In today’s news, Tajikistan assists with timely food delivery to Afghanistan, link found between air pollution exposure and COVID-19 infection risk, non-profit dedicated to reimagining alternative meat production awards US$5 million in research grants, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India recognizes minister’s support of vegan leather production in his northeastern Indian state, Australian farmer couple have been treating wildlife-people injuries for over 30 years, jackfruit meat company from Great Britain wins 2021 Great Taste award, and global women’s magazine bans fur from its pages.

Tajikistan provides vital support for food delivery to Afghanistan.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has sent food from its warehouse in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province. The WFP obtained 2,500 metric tons of wheat flour from the region, and is delivering aid to Afghanistan before winter snow makes it impossible to cross the mountain passes. It says the situation in Afghanistan is quickly evolving into the world’s biggest humanitarian crisis. Strong and swift support from the Tajikistan government to provide the transportation corridor on the ground and through air flights has been key for WFP to move food items to remote areas in Afghanistan. Tajikistan is a Shining World Leadership Award for Good Governance laureate. Our heartfelt gratitude, WFP and Tajikistan, for your compassionate and cooperative spirit in helping our Afghan brothers and sisters during this most difficult time of need. May Allah bless Afghanistan with quick improvement, for all to live in peace, joy and abundance.

Researchers find link between air pollution and likelihood of contracting COVID-19.

A study led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) in Spain, has found a connection between developing COVID-19 and high amounts of exposure to the air pollutants nitrogen dioxide(NO2) and small particulate matter (PM2.5). In a study of over 9,600 people, of whom 5% were COVID-positive, it was additionally observed that the pollution also increases the risk of severe infections and hospitalization. Although the study was conducted in Spain, its results are relevant globally, and also mirror previous findings of a higher risk of other respiratory illnesses when exposed to atmospheric pollution. Thank you, Barcelona Institute for Global Health scientists and co-researchers, for helping to highlight the dangers of air pollution. In the mercy of Heaven, may the decarbonization of our global economy soon be complete as we strive to ensure the planet’s atmosphere is clean. Vegan: 2 save 7 billion endangered species. That species is humans.

Hi joyful friends, I’m Duney, a vegan pal from the Desert Tortoise kingdom. My vegan diet helps me with my inner peace. It’s so great that you just have to experience it for yourself. Here is a neat way on how you can be environmentally conscious while doing laundry! Soak your dirty clothes in water prior to tossing them into the washing machine so you won’t have to use as much laundry detergent and stain remover. Furthermore, steer clear of using fabric softeners as they are toxic to the environment, cover your laundry with harsh chemicals and decrease the absorbency of your towels. Thank you for your attention, and much love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants. Here’s the weather around our beautiful globe.

Good Food Institute (GFI) supports research into alternative proteins.

US-based GFI, a non-profit dedicated to promoting meat substitutes as a solution to the climate crisis and zoonotic disease outbreaks, recently awarded US$5 million in research grants to alternative meat innovators. Twenty-two grants were awarded across eight countries, with 13 of the initiatives focused on cultivated meat, two involved with developing fermentation techniques, and seven centered on plant-based meat. GFI believes it is crucial to speed up the development of the alternative protein sector for a sustainable Earth, and that government investment is essential “to support the science that will transform our food system and help mitigate the impacts of climate change.” Congratulations, grant winners and especially Good Food Institute! May your vision and efforts help create a harmonious world where all can live together in peace and abundance, in God’s Grace.

Environment Minister of Meghalaya, India, honored by PETA India for vegan leather project.

The Honorable James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma has been presented the Progressive Business Concept Award by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India for his plans to encourage farmers in the northeastern Indian state to produce vegan leather from pineapples, a crop that is plentiful in Meghalaya. Minister Sangma has said that the climate crisis is a critical challenge, and PETA India says he is taking this step to stop the killing of animal-people for skins to help curb the emergency. Furthermore, he announced that the administration has plans to open a climate change museum in the state and teach about global warming in schools. Our accolades on your award, the Honorable James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma. In Celestial love, may we soon see governments worldwide providing true leadership by embracing Vegan Law for the benefit of all beings.

Farmers transform home into wildlife-people refuge.

Located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, farmers Colleen Werner and Doug McNeill have cared for hundreds of injured animal-people for over 30 years. When intense bushfires came within meters of their home in late 2019, an array of native animal-people showed up seeking shelter, so the kind couple turned their property into an improvised wildlife-person sanctuary. Many of their former furry patients returned during the emergency, including sugar glider-, wallaby-, koala-, pademelon- and wombat-people. The duo provided the distressed beings with plenty of water and food, and spots in and around the house and garden to stay. Since the fire, both have lovingly continued giving care to wildlife-persons needing treatment. Great job, Colleen Werner and Doug McNeill, for earnestly helping our dear co-inhabitants. In God’s Benevolence, may we view all beings in the world as our cherished sisters and brothers. No 2 vegan? Cuz u live just 2 eat, no? Any thing, even a dead carcass?

You’re just 10 seconds away from a hearty laugh with today’s joke of the day titled, “Following Instructions.”

A young man was planting some flower seeds on a very hot day, sweating from the intense sun. His neighbor, who was an experienced gardener, offered some words of advice:

“You better wait to plant your flower seeds until the sun goes down or in the morning when it is coolest.”

“Oh, I can’t do that because it says on the package, ‘Plant in full sun.’”
