His Excellency Niels Annan, Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office, visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to discuss the needs of displaced people from Syria. After meeting with representatives from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other humanitarian agencies, Mr. Annan announced that his country would contribute an additional €71 million in view of the fallout from COVID-19 and Jordan’s challenging economic situation. More than 60% of the grant will go toward the essential needs of vulnerable individuals and communities in addition to cash assistance. Germany is a Shining World Caring Leadership Award and Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion and Wise Governance laureate. They faced an uphill battle, however, because publishers doubted the credibility of their work. Fast forward to 2021, and the American news magazine Time included WWA’s founders on their list of the 100 most influential people of the year. Reports about natural disasters nowadays mention human-caused climate change thanks to these dedicated researchers. Sadly, Dr. van Oldenborgh passed away in October. Penalties for conviction were increased in 2016 and again in April 2021, with a maximum prison term of 20 years for perpetrators. Recently, a criminal court convicted a father and a retired nurse for cutting the genitals of a 15-year-old girl. The nurse was sentenced to 10 years in jail, and the father is facing three years with hard labor. The case’s outcome signals the government’s resolve to finally mete out punishments that will put an end to the horrific practice. We sincerely appreciate the Egyptian judiciary personnel who achieved this victory for your country’s women. Former teacher becomes a centenarian runner.
Julia Hawkins of Louisiana, USA, enjoyed competing as a cyclist at the National Senior Games each year. At 100, however, the hills became too much of a challenge, so she started running instead. Ms. Hawkins’ new pursuit takes her on daily jogs of a mile or two, and in November 2021, the vibrant woman entered the 100-meter dash at the Louisiana Senior Games. She finished in just under 1 minute 3 seconds, setting a world record at 105 for the first female athlete in her age group and the oldest American to complete the event. When she’s not running, Ms. Hawkins cares for a collection of bonsai and takes delight in magical moments – things like rainbows, melodious songbirds and glorious sunsets. He says that his recipe – based on button mushrooms, cooked lentils and toasted walnuts – emulates the texture and taste of the original dish. The government will consider using the chef’s creation as an industry-wide substitute. In New South Wales, Australia, an organization called Friends of the Koala was on the front lines following the conflagrations of 2019 and 2020. But the volunteers could not enter certain areas for several weeks with the result that many youngsters from the koala kingdom perished. The nonprofit group’s recruits now receive training in bushfire safety and other updated procedures that will save more lives in the future. With swifter rescue times, veterinarians can examine injured animal kingdom people, provide rehydration fluids and treat burns before complications develop. Recently, watching our Supreme Master Television Fly-in news, there was so much heart-breaking news about America, and I was feeling so sad about the Americans and humans. A big thanks to Supreme Master Ching Hai and the Supreme Master Television team members for letting the viewers know more about the truth and unfairness. I really pray that all humans quickly wake up and live a virtuous, loving and compassionate lifestyle, that they stop all killing, torturing, be it human or people from the animal kingdom.
At the beginning stage of President Trump becoming the president of America, there was so much bad news about him, and I was influenced as well. But when watching the news about the signing of the Peace Treaty on the Korean Peninsula, for the first time I saw President Trump’s face shining with love, so gentle, so loving, and I could also feel the joy and happiness truly from his heart. I even told my husband, “He looks so different,” and this time, it totally changed my view of him, and I began to love him, love all the good things he did for our world.
