In today’s news, Qatar Red Crescent Society helps relieve water shortage in Yemen, Canadian hospital ends cruel experiments on dog-people, Tanzanian youth restore beach through dedication and creativity, Dutch tech startup unveils free global vegan directory, Pakistan welcomes first vegan meat company featuring local flavors, UK vegan tempeh manufacturer obtains funds to develop sustainable meat substitutes, and US police officers rescue cat-person trapped in hot car.

A lot of Nature’s blessings go into growing every fruit and vegetable that we consume, so let’s not waste any. Today I’d like to offer a tip on how to keep lettuce fresh. Insert three metal toothpicks into the stem of the lettuce. The toothpicks function as mini conductors that not only help preserve hydration by regulating water content in the stem, but also slow down wilting, and extend its shelf life. Alternatively, you can wrap the lettuce in a thin dish towel prior to storing it in the refrigerator. This absorbs moisture to prevent rotting. Don’t wash lettuce before storing, as excess water accelerates spoilage. Another method involves setting the lettuce upright in a jar or bottle of water, like how you would to keep flowers fresh. This will keep it hydrated and fresh. Lastly, you can utilize vegetable-specific storage containers and keep your fridge’s vegetable drawer at an ideal temperature of around 3–9°C.

Give your brain a quick break with today’s joke. This one’s entitled “Logically Speaking.”

Jakayla pointed to a young couple in the car ahead and told her husband:

“Look, the woman has her head on the man’s shoulder. Remember, we used to ride like that. What changed?”

Staring straight ahead, the husband replied:

“Well, I didn’t move and am still here in the driver’s seat.”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Thục Quyên in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam
