We were honored to interview Dr. Arielle Griffiths, a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons who specializes in plant-based meal regimens developed for animal-people.

In 2003, in an era where the word “vegan” was relatively unheard of, a dog-person named Bramble entered the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest living dog-person at that time. Bramble was then 27 years old, the equivalent of 189 years of age for a human. Ms. Ann Heritage, Bramble’s caring caretaker also had 7 other dog friends at her residence. While one of them lived to 19 years, another to 21 years, it was Bramble who reached the acclaimed age of 27 years, eating a diet of organic vegetables, rice and lentils all along!

Our society needs to revisit the concept of providing our animal-person companions with exclusively plant-based foods; Dr. Griffiths explains the myth about feeding our animal-people meat-based foods. “People's misconception, is that dogs need meat, but actually dogs do not need meat, they need nutrients, they don't need a set of ingredients. And if you can get every bit of ingredients from a plant-based source, which is a pure source, then actually you're eliminating the need to kill any animal.” “Whether it be the kibble, the dry food or the tin food, they actually put more effort into making sure that vegan dog (people) food is going to cover all the right, it's got all the right nutrients.”

It is now ascertained that dog people of all shapes and sizes flourish while fed a compassionate plant-based diet. In fact, we see it documented as well by our most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan), who at one time cared for 15 dog companions and many bird-people, all living a vegan lifestyle! This large family and their beautiful dialogues with Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) are contained in the best-sellers: “The Dogs in My Life” and “The Birds in My Life.”
