Researchers estimate that approximately 20,000 liters of water are needed to produce one kilogram of beef. You can save more water by not eating a pound of hamburger meat than you can by not showering for six months! According to scientists, we can drastically reduce our water footprint by adopting a vegan lifestyle. While a meat diet requires 4,000 gallons (15140L) of water per day, a vegan diet requires only 300 gallons (1135 L).
