In today’s news, European Union supports food aid in Burkina Faso, astronomers recalculate age of the universe, Indian state to gain large solar projects at low cost, Japanese firm develops facial recognition for mask wearers, elderly American man makes walking sticks for charity, new vegan milk brand is popular in Germany, and ban on wildlife trade re-proposed in United States.

European Union provides vital assistance to Burkina Faso.

The European Union has contributed €4.2 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to provide emergency aid to over 1.2 million people in displaced and host communities in Burkina Faso. With 90% of the country’s population relying heavily on subsistence farming, their daily sustenance has been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, regional conflict, and climate shocks. The financial support from the EU made timely food supplies possible during low harvest season, and also allowed the launch of an air service for WFP’s aid to reach remote areas. The European Union is a recipient of four Shining World Leadership Awards for Humanitarianism, two Shining World Leadership Awards for Peace, a Shining World Leadership Award for Earth Protection and a laureate of two Shining World Leadership Awards for Humanitarianism and Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Unconditional Care, and True Caring. Our gratitude, European Union and World Food Programme. May Heaven bless the kind people of Burkina Faso to greet an evermore stable future.

Astronomers confirm the age of the universe.

A study led by Dr. Steve Choi of the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science in the United States has shown that previous calculations of the age of the universe are probably correct, at around 13.77 billion years. To arrive at this relatively precise number, the astronomers used an observatory above Chile’s Atacama Desert to re-examine the most ancient light that is visible. Previously gathered data by the European Space Agency’s Planck satellite had calculated a similar age, but in 2019 a team of scientists suggested this might be incorrect by some hundreds of millions of years. With this renewed confidence in the age of the universe, the scientists could also estimate how fast our universe is expanding. Our appreciation, Dr. Steve Choi and co-astronomers. In Celestial goodness, may we remember our humble presence in this vast created cosmos while contemplating the great universe within.

Up next, Indian state plans massive solar expansion at record low price. We’ll just give thanks to the responsible crop managers, who oversee the whole, complex process of growing grains, fruits and vegetables. When we return, more thoughtful news ahead, here on Supreme Master Television!

Hallo, virtuous friends, it’s Carly the vegan Cockchafer! Wherever I go, others just can’t keep their eyes off me, because I became so adorable after turning vegan. Ah, don’t envy me, just get the same tool as I did - that’s right, the vegan diet. Then you’ll have the same result. Here are two methods to ensure your houseplants will be all right the next time you are away from home for an extended period. The first way is to gather your potted plants in a small tub. Crumple up some newspaper and wet it, then place it around the pots, making sure you cover all the gaps. Remember to also water the plants just before leaving. Alternatively, you can immerse a nylon clothesline in water for 30 minutes, then water and drain your plant. Next, fill a container with water and place it somewhere higher than the plant. After that, put one end of the clothesline in the container and the other in the soil. You’ll need to use more than one clothesline for bigger plants. Thank you for watching. Lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Now the weather from around the world.

Indian state achieves record low price for large solar power projects.

An auction for 500 megawatts of solar capacity, held by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), an electrical services company in that state, has resulted in a record-low tariff that is less than 3 US cents per kilowatt-hour. Having won the bid for development contracts, three local companies, as well as one from Saudi Arabia, will take part in the construction and will commit to 25-year power purchase agreements with GUVNL. The ongoing expansion of India’s solar capacity is a part of the government’s vision to add 450 gigawatts of renewables by 2030. India is a recipient of two Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion and Shining World Leadership Awards for Environmental Protection and Good Governance; as well as a laureate of three Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, three Shining World Leadership Awards for Justice, two Shining World Leadership Awards for Peace, and Shining World Leadership Awards for Good Governance and Protection. Way to go, India and Gujarat. May the friendly Indian people be blessed with plentiful clean energy, good health and prosperity.

Facial recognition system created for people wearing masks.

Japanese information technology company NEC Corp. has produced a system that can verify a mask wearer’s identity by focusing on the unmasked parts of the face. With this kind of technology, the person does not have to remove her or his mask, or touch surfaces in order to be identified. Having an accuracy of 99.9%, the system could also be beneficial due to the large number of people who wear masks for other, non-pandemic reasons, such as allergies or to protect the public from the spread of other pathogens. Such a precise advancement, NEC Corp. May all citizens practice hygiene, mask-wearing and social distancing to protect one another as we pray for a safer future, in Heaven’s grace.

American senior raises funds for local food bank.

Wanting to give back to his community of Xenia, Ohio, 93-year-young retired Air Force Colonel John Hobson used his handyman skills to handcraft about 100 walking sticks, which he sold in batches at a roadside stand in his front yard. At US$3 each, they were bought quickly, and with the help of his family, he also set up a GoFundMe page. Colonel Hobson has now raised well over US$11,000 for a local non-profit food pantry. He said that knowing he is still able to help the less fortunate in a meaningful way just makes him feel good. Our heartfelt salute and appreciation, Colonel John Hobson, for your noble endeavor to help those in need. May you inspire many individuals to be kinder to fellow humans, in the loving embrace of the Divine.

Coming up, new vegan milk brand gains popularity in Germany. We’ll take a moment to pray a little while for our animal friends who are not yet free, and reaffirm our vow to do our small part to save them. You’re watching Noteworthy News on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News - Worthwhile News for a Contented World.

New German vegan milk brand is rising rapidly to success.

After launching in early 2020, German plant-based food tech startup vly sold their one millionth liter of vegan milk within just ten months. Their pea protein-based milks have a creamy and neutral flavor plus an impressive nutritional profile. Through their research, development and testing over 400 iterations, their product has received excellent customer feedback ratings. The vegan beverage, available in Original, Barista, and Unsweetened versions, can be easily purchased online or in over 6,000 locations across Germany. Vly is also currently developing its next product line, including yogurt and a chocolate milk. Way to go, vly, on your strong start in helping to transform the milk market. In the support of the Providence, may all our world soon be drinking delicious and compassionate plant-based alternatives.

United States Congressmen reintroduce proposed ban on wildlife trafficking.

The Preventing Future Pandemics Act, first introduced in September 2020, was recently reintroduced in the US House of Representatives, to stop the spread of deadly zoonotic diseases such as Ebola, SARS, MERS, HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19. According to the bipartisan bill presented by Representatives The Honorable Mike Quigley and The Honorable Fred Upton, a prohibition would be imposed on the import, export and commercial trade of wildlife animals for human consumption as food or medicine in the United States. With US$35 million allocated for the ban’s implementation, the US State Department and other agencies would also collaborate to shutter wildlife markets around the world through diplomatic measures. The US House of Representatives is a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate. Many thanks Congressmen, The Honorable Mike Quigley and The Honorable Fred Upton, for your praiseworthy efforts to protect world citizens. May all countries adopt similar and even stricter measures to bring God’s mercy upon ourselves and our animal co-tenants.

Please sit back and relax with the Joke of the Day entitled, “Shortcut.”

A father was talking to his young daughter:

“So, you better study hard, missy, to become a doctor.”

“Why should I study hard, I have a shortcut way to become a doctor.”

“And what is your shortcut way?”

“I just have to marry a doctor and become Mrs. Doctor!”

And now we have a heartline from Dr. Joanne Kong in the United States:

Dear Supreme Master Ching Hai, I was featured on Supreme Master TV this Fall, on November 10 and 17, 2020 (I am a concert pianist and vegan advocate), and would like to express my gratitude to You for having the opportunity to be a part of all You do to spread messages of peace, beauty and compassion throughout the world. With warmest wishes for the New Year, Joanne from the United States

Talented Dr. Kong, Supreme Master Ching Hai has these very special words for you: “Virtuous Dr. Kong, how wonderful to hear from you again! It was truly an honor to have you as a guest on Supreme Master Television. Your message on veganism is not only compelling but also deeply touching. I sincerely pray that it will awaken many people to the abhorrently cruel treatment of our animal friends. If we put an end to their suffering, humanity’s torments from COVID-19 to climate change will also end. It is very simple, and I thank you for taking your precious time to lovingly spread this truth. I pray that you continue to be blessed and protected in your compassionate mission. Please continue to be with us in our united meditation and prayer for World Vegan, so we will have true lasting World Peace! May God’s favor be with you and accomplished America.”

We welcome your heartlines, stories and or cute, loving animal clips. Please send them via SupremeMasterTV.com/heartline

We sure have enjoyed spending time with you on Noteworthy News. May celestial love and wisdom be your faithful guides.
