Today we will focus on how celebrating Christmas can uplift spirits and enhance psychological health. Attending church services, singing carols, creating holiday cards, gift-giving, and putting up decorations and lights are common ways to commemorate this holiday. The atmosphere in filled with reminders of the value of good, moral, virtuous and generous conduct. Dr. Batcho explained in an interview with the American Psychological Association that the holidays can stimulate recollections of simpler times when we had fewer worries and responsibilities as well as less stress. Also, Christmas, or other religious observances, can spur us to think about the disadvantaged and how we can help them. Best of all, the positive effects of the Christmas atmosphere can serve as a springboard to delivering acts of kindness throughout the year!
