Esther Bertram (Vegan) - CEO & Creative Entrepreneur - Reconnecting with Our Innate Nature and Bridging Communities Through Veganism, Part 2 of 2

The vegan cooperative “IN VEGANS WE TRUST” is an online hub created by Esther, a “facilitation space” to boost vegan businesses and services. Esther stated on the company’s website: “It’s actually a win-win-win-win situation because it’s winning for the vegans, winning for the vegan businesses, winning for the team members who are participating, and winning for the animals.” For IN VEGANS WE TRUST, all the money spent supports vegan products or services without jeopardizing any animal’s wellbeing. Esther believes the cooperative serves to shift meat eater's thinking about veganism, making it easier for them to transition. “So we have a vegan marketplace, a vegan school, a vegan community, and an e-zine, which is an electronic magazine where we bring vegan content together. So, on the community, members can find vegan house shares, vegan coupons, and accommodation. They can sell things. Marketplace is perfect for service providers as well as product makers. So if somebody was a babysitter and they're vegan, they could list their services. And the drive behind it is to facilitate a space to boost the vegan economy.” Being empathic and deeply caring, Esther encourages others to try their best to be more aware of themselves and their surroundings. “IN VEGANS WE TRUST” provides teaching opportunities for vegans with talented skills to start a vegan business. If you need a job, the company lets you find a suitable job within the vegan community. Before her vegan enterprises, Esther graduated from Southern Cross University, Australia, with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in music composition and media. She has utilized her artistic skills for her book “November Fox,” which took about five years to complete. “I've written most songs in my life about life and love.” In many ways, her songs are connected to veganism because vegans choose not to eat animals for the love they have toward them. “My wish for the planet is that consciousness continues to awaken and light up the world. And that because of that, it becomes a world where kindness becomes stronger and stronger. Kindness towards ourselves, kindness towards the animals, the planet, and each other. Be a hero, be vegan, save the world.”

Michele Fasnacht (vegan) – Inspirational Leader of Education and Social Activism, Part 3 of 4

Michele Fasnacht (vegan) – Inspirational Leader of Education and Social Activism, Part 3 of 4

As a fully vegan school, the children learn about the positive impacts of a vegan diet on animal-people friends and the environment, as well as on their own health. “Animal Friends is a Humane Education program. And that teaches students to respect the animals that share our world. It looks at things like, we all love dogs; we all want to rescue that hurt dog over there. But here's a hurt pig. And how are they different? Because a pig is just a pink dog.” “The purpose of the Animal Friends workshop is really to foster compassion and empathy for the animals that share our world. And we do that through service learning and hands-on opportunities. So, each week we take students to different animal sanctuaries where we volunteer.” Caring for our animal-people co-inhabitants is naturally connected with caring for the environment. Miss Monett is also the Environmental Biology teacher, and she offered to take us on a field trip to a six-acre ‘Outdoor Classroom’ that the students are so fortunate to have access to as part of their learning experience. “All students in grade K through twelve participate in environmental classes. And they learn about issues like recycling, sustainability, and how to be good stewards of our planet. We do what we can to be as environmentally friendly on our campus as possible. So, we don't use single use plastics or foam; we recycle; we added solar power to run our tower gardens, our aeroponic gardens and our greenhouse.” “The Virtual School uses a combination of pre-recorded videos, live zoom meetings. It aligns with our values and mission. All of our classes are going to with healthy eating, plant-based eating, compassion to all, compassion to animals, sustainability, environmentally friendly, eco-friendly, all those things that matter to people who care about our planet, the health of our children, the starvation that's happening in the world, and all of the things that we can do to make this world better.”

If You Plant It, It Will Grow! – With Nafsika Antypas (vegan), Part 2 of 2

If You Plant It, It Will Grow! – With Nafsika Antypas (vegan), Part 2 of 2

"A lot of people are worried that they’re going to miss their cheese and they’re going to miss their meat. This is the only reason why I enlarged Nafsika’s Garden, so that people can not worry about that. They can just try it and you have nothing to lose, they just try it. And so, when you try it with your food some people don’t even know that it’s vegan actually." The multi-talented Nafsika not only started the non-profit organization “People Against Violence,” to promote peace and provide support and resources to help victims around the world, she also created another wonderful personal safety app called “uAlert,” that anyone can download onto their smart device and use it in any country. In this critical era of global pandemics Nafsika shared her message to the countries’ leaders looking for the most effective pathway out of our planetary crisis. "Help everyone go vegan, promote veganism, because we wouldn’t have a pandemic if everyone were vegan. When you’re not eating meat, you’re reducing your chances of getting any kind of you know, disease of any kind, there’s so many things in there in meat there’s those antibiotics, there’s hormones, there’s, you know, I mean, there’s cancer in there, you know, it’s like so many things. So, I think if the countries really care about their people, they should promote a plant-based diet." Nafsika’s positive message is echoed by our benevolent Supreme Master Ching Hai, who shared Her wisdom with everyone at the Ahimsa and the Environment Conference, in October this year. "Then of course, by consuming these dead animal-people products, not only our soul will recognize it as unbefitting, cruel, wicked and devilish, but also our physical body will revolt. And then, sicknesses come… Let’s pray for the quick rescuing of our planet and that our leaders and co-citizens alike will take heed of the warnings from nature, because nature is our own reflection." “Let’s pray that God still gives us a chance and all humans will change to Ahimsa, thus rebuild a benevolent world. May it so be. Amen!”

Inspiring Compassion for All Beings Through Film: Allison Argo (vegan), Part 1 of 2

Inspiring Compassion for All Beings Through Film: Allison Argo (vegan), Part 1 of 2

We are honored to feature the extraordinary Ms. Allison Argo from the USA, a world-renowned filmmaker who, for more than two decades, has inspired understanding and compassion for animal-people through film. Her remarkable documentaries through the ArgoFilms production company have been featured on both the National Geographic and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) (PBS) channels, have won six National Emmys (11 nominations), a DuPont Columbia Award for journalism, multiple Genesis, Jackson Hole, and CINE Golden Eagle awards, and have earned more than 80 international film awards from New Zealand to Canada, Slovakia to Japan. “There was a gorilla named Ivan, living in a shopping mall in Washington State. And it was horrible, he lived in a concrete box basically, and [a] little trailer.”“And I was just appalled. It was perfectly legal for him to be living in isolation for almost 30 years. He hadn't been outside. He hadn't seen another gorilla. I mean, his life was impoverished.” And so, with few resources and very little knowledge, Allison started making her first film, “The Urban Gorilla,” a documentary revealing the excruciating lives of captive gorilla-people. “The Urban Gorilla” was highly successful, garnering numerous awards, including the DuPont-Columbia Award for journalism, a Genesis Award, and two Emmy nominations. However, for Allison, the most satisfying outcome was not the awards, but how the film changed Ivan’s life. After “The Urban Gorilla,” Allison went on to produce many other highly successful documentaries featuring different animal-people, including chimpanzee-people, frog-people, elephant-people and even pig-people.Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Allison Argo for your noble work that brings our world awareness of the anguish and agony of the people from the animal kingdom, with all love, respect, and gratitude. May you enjoy ever more success and may Heaven bless you abundantly always.”

Hope Bohanec (vegan): Guardian of Animal-People and the Environment, Part 1 of 2

Today, we are privileged to present to our dear viewers the renowned champion of our animal-people friends and the environment, Ms. Hope Bohanec. For decades, Hope has sacrificed her personal comfort and, even safety, to advocate for the people of the animal kingdom and the planet. As an animal-people rights activist, Ms. Bohanec has given several presentations, written various articles, and organized hundreds of vegan events. Her 2013 book “The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat?” is a well-received exposé of the animal-people industry’s unconscionable “humane-washing” of its cruelty-laden products. For three and a half years, Hope Bohanec was the contact person for In Defence of Animals’ grassroots campaigns related to fur, wild horse-people, Korean meat of dog-people, and foie gras. One joint campaign with the San Francisco Vegetarian Society led to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors signing a Veg Day Resolution designating Mondays as a vegetarian day. This Resolution encourages local restaurants, grocery stores, and schools to offer a greater variety of meat-free options. Hope was also the Sonoma County Coordinator for Proposition 2, a state-wide proposition for the prevention of cruelty to animal-people raised for food that was passed in 2008. According to data from the United Nations, chicken-people account for more than 95% of all land animal-people killed by humans for food annually. Hope says this has to stop because our feathered friends have an emotional life and are sensitive to pain just as we are: “Chickens, and birds, and turkeys, they have absolutely, scientifically, been proven to feel pain the same as we do. They have emotions, they have family life, they have personalities. They can grieve, they can rejoice, they love life just as we do, just as a cow does, just as your dog does.” Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully presents the Shining World Compassion Award to Ms. Hope Bohanec, with sincere respect and high praises for your selfless efforts to help save our planet and its inhabitants, plus US$10,000 as a humble token of support for Compassionate Living to assist in its noble causes. May Heaven smile on you and all involved always, in God’s Benevolence.”

Leading a Life of Compassion – with Victoria Moran (vegan), Part 2 of 2

Leading a Life of Compassion – with Victoria Moran (vegan), Part 2 of 2

Victoria Moran is one of the foremost leaders and educators to have helped propel the vegan movement towards the mainstream status it enjoys today. Among her many ardent fans are renowned TV personality Oprah Winfrey, celebrity talk show host Ellen Degeneres, and former US President Bill Clinton. “And when somebody asks me about why I choose not to use dairy, then I'm very happy to tell them that the cows have to be impregnated, that they're separated from their babies. And just that raising cows for dairy is not the same in the modern world as it was 5,000 years ago.” Today, Victoria continues to work diligently, taking every opportunity to inspire and support the vegan lifestyle. “It's not just about health. It's not just about animal rights. It's not even just about saving this planet, as huge as that is. It's about living in a way that just uplifts; it just uplifts body, mind, and spirit.” 36 years as a powerhouse for the vegan movement is no small accomplishment. Yet today, at the age of 71, Victoria is just getting started! “I'm living in a time in history when that luxury is not there. If we have something to share that can change the future of this planet, and each of us, I know, can only make a little tiny contribution, but all of us together can do it. So, nobody gets to retire from this.” True to her words, Victoria continues to encourage the vegan lifestyle through her writing. Victoria is thankful to the many individuals, groups, organizations, and media outlets that are actively promoting the vegan lifestyle. She is especially grateful for Supreme Master Television and its global viewers. “You have chosen to listen to something that is going to uplift not only you, but the world.” Our most gracious Supreme Master Ching Hai also tirelessly encourages the vegan way of life, not only for better health, but also to make our Earth a paradise. “The world is getting better all the time. It’s just that the world’s people have to catch up with it, and then it will be even better and better all the time. So, if they became vegan, our lives would be more comfortable. We will live happily, healthy long lives, and connected with the Divine even, because Heavens will be able to show us some expressive signs of Their love and Their connection with us.”

Omowale Adewale (vegan): A Peaceful Fighter for a Just World, Part 1 of 2

14:33

Omowale Adewale (vegan): A Peaceful Fighter for a Just World, Part 1 of 2

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, USA, Omowale Adewale, affectionately called “Wale,” is a champion martial artist, author, and founder of Black Vegfest. “My brother told me that: ‘Hey, because you have high blood pressure, …’- I was diagnosed with high blood pressure at 15 years old - he told me to stop eating meat. For 20 years, I stopped eating meat. Then eight years ago, I became vegan, in 2013. I was already an athlete and I always wish that I went vegan earlier, which everyone says. Once you realize that you can actually live and you can thrive, not eating meat, then, of course, you feel like you've been eating all these bodies for so long and it didn't make any sense.” After Wale decided to go completely vegan, he quickly found out about the tremendous benefits to his wellbeing. Eliminating all dairy foods from his diet, he rapidly noticed changes in his performance as an athlete. One of the many positive changes he noticed most was that the chronic bronchitis, from which he had been suffering since childhood, disappeared within two weeks. “The biggest change for me was my chronic bronchitis, which I had since I was young. It went away. It took two weeks for me to be able to breathe easily.” It’s well-known that the adage “Milk builds better bones” is merely marketing propaganda, and has no scientific basis. Other than the common allergen lactose in the milk, evidence shows that the antibiotics and hormones concentrated in finished products can cause antibiotic-resistant superbugs, and the increased risk of childhood obesity linked to early puberty, breast cancer, or ovarian cysts for women, as well as prostate cancer for men. Our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai has spoken about some of the unbearable cruelty occurring in the dairy industry. “In the most industrial country, they confine the cow-lady, and they force her to take a lot of chemical things to produce more milk. And then as a consequence, their bones are rotten, and they could hardly support their bodies. Sometimes she fell down and she gets sick, and her organ comes out of her body. When they want to stitch them back (together), they don't even give them aesthesia or anything. And I don't like all these inhuman and uncivilized ways of treating an animal-person – an animal-person who is beneficial to mankind, who is so kind and so gentle.”

Nan Sea Love – A Vegan Artist and Messenger of Heavenly Visions, Part 1 of 2

Nan Sea Love – A Vegan Artist and Messenger of Heavenly Visions, Part 1 of 2

Since her youth, Nan Sea Love has been an artist at heart, and has pursued a career in art through numerous fields including painting, illustration, advertising and design for CDs, billboards, books and other products. She has also been doing visionary artwork since her 29th birthday, when she experienced a vision during meditation which expanded her focus to include holistic health, the environment, and animal-people advocacy. Nan Sea Love’s inner urge for making a positive change on our planet is apparent in all her work. At eight years old, Nan Sea Love became vegetarian when her father told her one evening over dinner how meat was produced. From that point on, she began her awakening journey to bring her actions in line with her morals and inner belief. “But going whole food plant-based, I need to almost a hundred percent give the credit to Food Revolution Network, John Robbins and Ocean Robbins’ nonprofit, just tremendously helpful. It was when I realized that our taste buds regenerate in like three weeks, I quit eating something that isn’t good for me for a short period of time.”A turning point in her life came from her history of art class with an art professor who taught the historical function of art, which expresses the way cultures saw the world at that time in history. In the case of visionaries and visionary art, the professor explained that art had been used as an inspiration to guide others to a new way of perceiving and being. After a speech by the professor on the last day of class, which received a standing ovation, Nan Sea Love’s dreams were re-ignited.During this time of the pandemic, Nan Sea Love, like many others, had a period of reflection and change. “I have continued to let spirit guide me and I’ve learned a term recently, ‘follow the breadcrumbs,’ and I am. And it seems almost every day, there's another guidance that comes to me on how I can open myself, expand and be more of this, of what I believe I need to be, to make a difference in the world.”

Plant-Based Nutritional Fitness with Clean Machine’s Geoff Palmer (vegan), Part 2 of 2

14:03

Plant-Based Nutritional Fitness with Clean Machine’s Geoff Palmer (vegan), Part 2 of 2

Geoff was an Olympic junior swimmer in high school and learned at an early age the importance of nutrition and its effects on the body. Geoff wanted to keep people staying in fitness with consistency. He thought about ways to help people to see and feel fitness results quicker. Through his own diligent research, Geoff found a cactus flower that can block 80% of the conversion of testosterone to both estrogen and DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), a metabolized pathway of testosterone. Geoff saw an opportunity and launched his company “Clean Machine” in 2013, that committed to distributing the highest quality, natural, and unique supplements from some of the highest nutrient content plants ever discovered. Then in 2017, the company launched its new super ingredient LENTEIN which comes from water lentils, that not only has a higher concentration of essential amino acids and BCAAs (Branched-chain amino acids) than any other plant on the planet studied so far but is also the first plant found to have a higher nutrient density of Vitamin B12, making it the number one superfood. On December 1, 2018, Geoff and his team at Clean Machine, in partnership with the Naturally Fit Federation, created the world's first All-Vegan Natural Bodybuilding event for both men and women which was held in conjunction with the South Florida Vegfest in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA. Participating athletes were required to have been living a 100% vegan lifestyle for 12+ months by the date of the event. “So, at any age, you can do this completely drug-free. So, this amazing machine that we're born into, this incredible physiology that we're born into, I am encouraging people to keep this machine clean, so, free of drugs, free of animal products.” "What really works for me is eating fruits and vegetables every day." "I’m a 3-time pro builder." "All protein comes from plants." "Years from now, it's going to be remembered as the very first ever, when the people thinking bodybuilding, they would think vegan; and the people thinking vegan, they'll be thinking bodybuilding. That is what I want in the future."

Simone Reyes (vegan) - Champion for the People of the Animal Kingdom, Part 2 of 2

Simone Reyes (vegan) - Champion for the People of the Animal Kingdom, Part 2 of 2

Today, we continue featuring Simone’s powerful vegan activism and her books. Simone first shared her voice for the suffering animal-people with a national audience when she starred in Oxygen’s reality television series Running Russell Simmons. Extraordinarily articulate, she is a regular on news outlets such as CNN, Headline News (HLN), and World Animal News (WAN). Simone is also the Vice President of Communications for Social Compassion in Legislation (SCIL), a non-profit dedicated to animal-people protection. Among its many accomplishments, SCIL is the organization behind the passing of a high-profile ordinance that prohibits businesses in Los Angeles, USA, from selling animal-people bred in puppy-mills. Simone is also the author of two interesting books, “Astrology for Cats” and “Astrology for Dogs,” that help humans learn the zodiac alignment of their animal-people companions and discover all the information pertaining to these signs. “We have to fix ourselves. And that means switching over to a plant-based diet. It's easy, it's healthy. And it makes you feel better spiritually. I mean, it's a win-win.” Our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai speaks frequently about the urgent need for a global switch to a vegan diet, as it would reverse climate change, protect the environment, and save the lives of billions of innocent sentient beings. In 2021, Master’s latest book “Love is The Only Solution” was published as a powerful directive for the world’s salvation in this regard. The following is an excerpt from Chapter 3. “We have to practice love in order to beget love. In order to be all-pervasive, loving, like our Father, we have to love all beings. And that is the meaning behind the vegan diet. It's not to be healthy, or not because Jesus said so or Buddha forbids, it's just we have to be love incarnate. We have to be the walking God on this planet. We have to live like God would live, in order to be near God...”

Chickens' Lib-with Clare Druce (vegan), Part 1 of 2

13:32

Chickens' Lib-with Clare Druce (vegan), Part 1 of 2

On today’s program, we meet a true pioneer for the rights of animal-people, a renowned author, and the co-founder of Chickens’ Lib, Ms. Clare Druce. Chickens’ Lib was one of the first organizations in the world to campaign against the cruel treatment of the people from the chicken kingdom who were being forcefully raised in animal-people factories as so-called “egg-layers” or “broilers.” Ms. Druce devoted more than 40-years to exposing these barbaric conditions and challenging the legality of the animal-people industry. Clare and Violet co-founded the organization, Chickens’ Lib. They began their work in the early 1970s, long before the internet or any other forms of mass information dissemination were available. As a result, informing others about the cruelty on meat and egg producing factories was a highly labor-intensive job. For example, after collecting facts and photographs about the cruelty in the animal-people factories, they would mail these out to thousands of people. In Clare’s book, “Chickens’ Lib,” she writes, “If we don’t do something, people 100 years on will look at the way we feed the population as barbaric, in much the same way the slave trade is viewed in hindsight.” One of Clare’s major objectives was to raise awareness that all people from the animal kingdom (including chicken-people) are sentient beings who deserve our love and protection. “Anybody who's given it really good thought realizes they are sentient. And they're as sentient as, and as intelligent as, cats and dogs. And people worship their cats and dogs, make them family members. Don’t they, virtually? And yet the same people will happily eat (chickens).” Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Shining World Advocacy Award to Ms. Clare Druce, plus US $10,000 as a humble token of support for your lifelong dedication to protecting the wellbeing of chicken-people. May you and your loved ones enjoy continued blessings and constant protection by Heaven.”

Michele Fasnacht (vegan) – Inspirational Leader of Education and Social Activism, Part 4 of 4

13:02

Michele Fasnacht (vegan) – Inspirational Leader of Education and Social Activism, Part 4 of 4

Despite Michele’s busy schedule leading the Solid Rock Community School, in 2018 she started Green Culture, a vegan restaurant. Michele’s husband Eric was convinced of the power of a plant-based diet, and he jumped in and joined her for this project. “The mission is to get animals off the menu and put plants on the plate, and everyone that works here is part of that mission.” “We definitely do drive a message because we are an educational restaurant; we call ourselves an “edu-restaurant,” I think I made that term up. We have TVs up that play a recurring looping educational video. Most importantly, all of our staff is plant-based or vegan. So, we're here to answer your questions.” As a natural extension to compassionate vegan food, Green Culture also offers a ‘Fur Baby Menu’ for canine friends. “We love fur babies. We love them to come; we love to talk to the people that have dogs.” “All of our packaging is eco-friendly, because that is important to us. We have to walk what we talk. And we are here as a plant-based restaurant; we are Ocean Friendly Certified.” As part of her educational journey, Michele became involved in the Plant-based Lifestyle Movement (PBLM) organization, where she holds the position of Vice-president. Green Culture hosts many talks and presentations by the doctors and professionals from PBLM, as well as other plant-based educators and pioneers. Supreme Master Ching Hai shares with us the value of dedication to noble work such as Michele is doing: “If you want to save the world, if you want to do anything toward this goal, you’re enlarging your nobility, your Heavenly attribute. So if you spread the encouragement to save the planet, if you go veg, if you go green, if you do good deeds, you help others because you want to save the lives of other beings on Earth, then you have a saintly quality. You reawaken your holiness.” Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Fasnachts the Shining World Compassion Award with all love, respect and best wishes. May you continue to pursue your lofty, saintly goal in God's Mercy and Grace.”

Inspiring Compassion for All Beings Through Film: Allison Argo (vegan), Part 2 of 2

15:25

Inspiring Compassion for All Beings Through Film: Allison Argo (vegan), Part 2 of 2

On today’s program, Allison tells us about one of her most recent films, “The Last Pig.” This true story takes the viewer on an intimate journey into the life of Bob Comis, a man who raises pig-people but faces a painful moral dilemma about his livelihood. “I mean, they lived a beautiful life for six to eight months, and then on a certain day he would take them to the slaughterhouse. And it was that day that just was destroying him. And, after 10 years, he realized that ‘This is not who I am. I don't believe in doing this. I don't like doing it. We don't have to eat pigs. Why am I supporting that industry?’” “They (pig-people) love life more than any other animal I've ever seen. They love to eat and smell and play in the water and they love each other. And they're a herd. And, to take that away from them, you know, 10 or 12 years before they would ordinarily die. He felt that was criminal in the end.” When Allison made “The Urban Elephant,” she was deeply impressed by the intelligence of the people from the elephant kingdom. “Of all the animals that I've become intimate with, elephants to me are the most intelligent. I think elephants are so much more intelligent than humans. The way that they can communicate with one another is far deeper than human beings can communicate with one another. The way that they can find waterholes, three generations later, even during a drought. They remember where that waterhole was when they were a calf, an infant. I also think there's a lot that we can learn from animals, from other species.” For many decades, Supreme Master Ching Hai has reminded us that people from the animal kingdom are equal to humans, and have the same right to live their lives in dignity and respect. “It's a living creature. It's a being, just like us exactly. Understand? They’re just a little more gifted with their intuition and sharper faculty. Sometime when you look into their eyes, my God, you feel the message coming. They are equal. Just like different kind of trees, but they are all trees. Different kind of beings, they're all beings.”

Chickens' Lib-with Clare Druce (vegan), Part 2 of 2

15:17

Chickens' Lib-with Clare Druce (vegan), Part 2 of 2

The Chickens’ Lib organization used many different methods to inform the public about the immense brutality inflicted on bird-people in the meat and egg producing factories. They organized street demonstrations, held “sit-ins” in government offices, and mailed out thousands of fact sheets. They also handed out photographs showing the cruelty to animal-people. Clare soon realized that she needed a more effective way to stop the gruesome animal-people factories. After some research she discovered that, according to UK’s existing animal-people welfare laws, many of the practices conducted in meat and dairy factories were illegal. Clare says that governments and some animal-people welfare organizations often concentrate on improving the conditions to raise animal-people in meat and egg factories. “And you find that label on it doesn't actually mean very much, and so on. And I think it's a waste of time. Why not have a plant-based diet?” With our world currently facing challenges for survival because of pandemics, climate change, and natural disasters, Clare feels it is extremely urgent for people to shift to the vegan lifestyle. She says that the quickest way to achieve this would be through government intervention. “And it's integral to climate change and food supplies.” “I'd like to see no animal farming at all for food, and far more trees, forestation, and the soil considered the wonderful and totally essential thing that it is. We need to have some initial intelligence and compassion for animals, and we should realize we can't live without the proper balance of nature, because we cannot. No. Well, I would like everybody to try veganism for, let's say, a year. And think (about) how many animals you've saved during that year. I think that would be wonderful.” Our most beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai also frequently reminds us about the extreme urgency of halting climate change, pandemics, and all other natural disasters. She explains that a global shift to the vegan lifestyle is the only way to save our planet and calls on world leaders to reinforce animal-people laws for a Vegan World. “All you have to do is just change all these slaughterhouses, abattoirs into vegan farms, vegetable farms. Organic farms are better.”

Caring for Horse-People: An Interview with Ren Hurst (vegan), Part 1 of 2

Ren Hurst started her journey with horse-people when she was just a teenager. After experiencing a difficult childhood, Ren found that her time with horse-people was a saving grace that gave her a sense of pure freedom. “I started out just training horses, the way that young women in rural Texas do, the rodeo type way. And then got on board with the natural horsemanship movement, right as it was just coming to be a thing, [and] was very successful at that for a number of years. And that just kept leading me down this path of constantly questioning things because even natural horsemanship was quite a bit different than traditional horsemanship, in terms of allowing the horse to have some sort of say in the interactions. And so, that constant questioning and re-evaluating just kept leading me deeper and deeper into different esoteric paths in regard to relationship to horses, until I eventually stumbled upon Nevzorov’s Haute École which is a horsemanship school out of Russia that uses no control whatsoever beyond the basic needs of the animal.” Ren’s journey from being a so-called horse whisperer to reconnecting with her wild wisdom, which saw animal-people on an equal level with humans, has been just as rewarding for herself as it has been for the horse-people. “So, what it means to be a horse whisperer is to be a master manipulator and even more so than that, I’m so grateful for my horse training journey. I don’t think I could do the things I know how to do today, if I hadn’t trained horses for 20 years, because I trained horses with energy manipulation, and so, for 20 years, I didn’t realize I was training myself, how to control my emotions in order to control the emotions of the animals in my care. And so, when you’re interacting with animals, it’s so important that you understand that when they’re captive dependents in your care, especially like our dogs and our cats, everything that we feel is affecting them because they don’t have this, this like autonomous relationship to themselves, unless we support that and cultivate that for them, they are being influenced by how we feel day in and day out.”

Vegan Outreach: A Force for Good - with Jack Norris (vegan) , Part 2 of 2

Vegan Outreach: A Force for Good - with Jack Norris (vegan) , Part 2 of 2

Based on his knowledge as an RD, Jack has produced three publications including Vegan for Life: Everything You Need to Know to Be Healthy and Fit on a Plant-Based Diet, which he co-authored with Virginia Messina, another registered dietitian who is also a public health nutritionist. He also wrote a web-based book titled: “Vitamin B12: Are You Getting It?” and a web-based resource called “Staying Healthy on Plant-Based Diets.” Both are available at VeganHealth.org, a sister website of Vegan Outreach. The first thing Jack shares in his book Vegan for Life, is a reference to the famous statement by the US Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2016, which is also echoed by similar institutions in the UK, Canada, and Australia. It states: “It is the position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately-planned vegetarian, including vegan diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and athletes.” Jack further speaks about the environment: “I think the biggest impact of vegan eating, in terms of society at large, is alleviating climate change and other environmental problems. So, whether it be through greenhouse gases, land use, water use, or pollution, a plant-based diet has a much lower environmental impact.” Our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai has for decades explained that kindness to all beings is a pre-requisite for spiritual upliftment. “If we consider ourselves higher beings, then we should carry out higher noble acts – protect the weak and the innocent, and not abuse our power by harming our friends, especially since they do us no harm. We should listen to the great wise religious leaders of the past and present, and regard our animal friends as sacred, cherished creations of God. And as a very basic gesture of dignity, respect, and kindness, we should be vegan. When we love and respect the animal-people, we will develop our own spirituality. When we are able to expand this love to all other beings of the universe, including the animal-people who are our co-inhabitants, we ourselves expand and become greater spiritually. A peaceful relationship with the animal-people, with no more killing, would attract to us an abundance of Divine blessings. And with the whole world extending such compassion to animal-people our planet’s atmosphere, of course, would stabilize and even change to a more heavenly-like, permeated with feelings of peace and love.”

Vegan Outreach: A Force for Good - with Jack Norris (vegan) , Part 1 of 2

Affectionate viewers, it is our honor today to introduce to you a hero of the international vegan movement, Mr. Jack Norris, who co-founded the animal-people advocacy organization Vegan Outreach in 1993 to raise public awareness about the vegan lifestyle. “In 1992, me and a few of my fellow activists in Cincinnati, Ohio, decided that we needed to be able to create a small brochure to hand to people with pictures of how animals are treated.” In June 1993, Jack and 11 activists from the community held a three-day “Fast for Farm Animals” in front of a slaughterhouse in Cincinnati. Following this event, Jack joined hands with fellow activist Matt Ball to form Animal Liberation Action (ALA), which was renamed Vegan Outreach in 1995. Together, they started a campaign of holding “Stop Eating Animals” banners on street corners. “We printed out booklets, and we went to campuses and started handing them out, and we found it quite effective. We found a lot of interest in the information. We set up a website so that we could track what colleges had gotten outreach in any given semester and which ones hadn't. We tried to encourage people to go to their local colleges and hand out booklets there. And so, the ‘Adopt a College’ was born.” Since the time of our interview with Jack, the number of sign-ups for the “10 Weeks to Vegan” program has grown to over 440,000 as of early December 2021. That’s almost twice the number of sign-ups they had in 2020, which was 250,000. Jack has his eyes set on one million sign-ups this year. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present Mr. Jack Norris the Shining World Vegan Promotion Award, with all love, best wishes, and high praise for your great dedication and enthusiasm, plus US$10,000 as a simple token of support for Vegan Outreach. May God keep you in Hiers Eternal Embrace!”

Caring for Horse-People: An Interview with Ren Hurst (vegan), Part 2 of 2

“So, my basic understanding of domestication is when we interrupt someone’s natural emotional processes in order to control them. And how I define trauma is the interruption of those emotional processes at an early developmental stage. Making sure there’s a space of invitation before those physical interactions so that the animal has a chance to say ‘no.’” “When you’re an emotionally congruent, authentic leader, your discernment and your intuition, and your instinct is so on point that you don’t need to reach outside of yourself for unnecessary control. And so, I’m trying to teach people how to reclaim that authentic sense of power within themselves from a creation standpoint, rather than, you know, reaching out in every direction imaginable to have some fleeting sense of safety and control in the world.” Our most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai often informs us of all the treasures and gifts revealed to Her by wild and domesticated animal-people, and that we should never take for granted the valuable messages and protection sent by animal-people, from the humble spider-people to the immense whale-people frolicking in our oceans. “Not only the animal-people but insects even have souls. Plants have souls. Trees have souls. They could speak to me and to you – the trees, the plants...the mountains... the flowers. They are really just like us, only appearing in different physical forms to color our life and beautify our world. Just like there are different shades and shapes of flowers, or different types and sizes of trees, yet all have the same essence. Just like us humans, we are sometimes of different shape and color but we have the same essence. The animal-people are just equipped with finer faculties and other kinds of intelligence than ours; or at least they retain this divine gift which we have forgotten or neglected.” “I believe there's only one thing we really need to change, to change the world and make it a better place. And that is our relationship to emotion and understanding what it actually is and what it's for. There is so much we do not understand about the nature of emotion, as the connecting force to our inner guidance and inner wisdom.”

Afro-Latin Jazz with Dr. Paul De Castro – A Vegan Musical Maestro

Afro-Latin Jazz with Dr. Paul De Castro – A Vegan Musical Maestro

We are fortunate in this show to be immersing in euphonious explorations with none other than Maestro Paul De Castro, a vegan musician and professor, arranger, composer, sought-after soloist, orchestral lead, and so much more! “I tell my students, I think all my students know, I'm vegan, because it comes up one way or another. I always have vegan pamphlets and materials in my office. And if they look, and they asked what it is, I say, well, take one. I think part of being a professor, or a teacher of any type, is not only about teaching an instrument, or teaching how to do a task, but it's also about teaching what's important in life, how to lead a better life, and in my opinion is that a better life is a vegan lifestyle.” “Well, since I was a child, I felt great affection towards them (animals). You know, if there was a cat, there was a dog, You know, and it took me a while to understand that a pig or a cow is not different than a dog or a cat. They are the same beings, they have the same feelings, they want to live. You know, that if I'm eating milk, the end-product is that the animal will suffer. So that's when I decided to become vegan.” Maestro De Castro seeks to transcend borders through music, to “open doors” between cultures and nations with music as his instrument. “When the pandemic started, I was in the middle of recording a new project using the Chinese suona to play Cuban dance music. The working title for the group is very, very simple. It's called La Corneta China, ‘The Chinese Cornet.’” Dr. De Castro has brought sounds of peace through the vibrant Afro-Latin music genre across continents, performing in China, Cuba, Hungary, Romania, Taiwan, Australia, Canada, and the USA. In music as much as through his words, Dr. De Castro effects a beautiful fusion of hearts coming together in oneness and harmony. “Of course, the immediate wish is that everyone would be vegan. I think that if we want to achieve peace, we cannot be violent towards other beings, directly or indirectly.”

Hope Bohanec (vegan): Guardian of Animal-People and the Environment, Part 2 of 2

Hope Bohanec (vegan): Guardian of Animal-People and the Environment, Part 2 of 2

Compassionate Living is also a key driver of the Humane Hoax Project, a collaborative effort of activists and educators working to raise awareness of the “humane-washing” tactics being used by the livestock industry. Based on peer-reviewed studies, slaughterhouse workers’ accounts, and her own in-person investigations, Hope delves into the deceptions behind labels such as “grass-fed, “cage-free,” “free-range,” “pasture-raised,” “local,” “natural,” “family-run,” “alternative,” “sustainable,” “certified humane” and “organic.” The “humane-washing” actually leads to worse suffering for the living beings. Joy A. Mench, professor of animal science at the University of California Davis, has found that “cage-free” chicken-people are less healthy and tend to die at twice the rate of their more confined hen-sisters. Hope discusses this in a speech she gave at Arizona State University, USA in 2018: “When I was researching for the book, I had veterinarians confide in me that they were seeing cows with the worst stages of mastitis, in severe pain at milking on the organic farms, because they’re not giving them the medications they need. So, these labels, they can be even worse.” In her speeches and presentations, Hope often reveals a little-known fact about the contribution of fish-people to climate change mitigation: “So, how this works is that when there's billions of fish in the ocean, as there has been for billions of years, naturally, the fish droppings create a carbon sink. All of the droppings draw carbon from the atmosphere, becomes a carbon sink. Because we've done such massive fishing, there's not as much fish droppings, and it's actually hastening global warming.” We will now conclude our show with a quote from Ms. Bohanec’s book “The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat?” that points to the taking of life as the “ultimate betrayal”: “Discomfort with animal suffering leads to the inescapable conclusion that one should not participate in the killing. And non-participation largely implies not providing financial support to these businesses.”
