Ukraine’s President His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy: A Global Symbol of Courage and Hope in a Time of Crisis

During the few weeks since Russian troops invaded Ukraine on February 24, Ukraine’s President, His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has risen to the occasion as a fearless leader, giving his all to defend, guide, and support his country and fellow citizens. Despite urgent pleas from other government leaders for him and his family to evacuate to a safe location, he insisted on staying in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, in his country with his people. In a short period, His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy has unified not just his nation but the entire western world, winning the hearts and minds of the people with his bravery, steadfast efforts, and loving devotion to his country that shines through his simple, sincere words. However, a hero is not made overnight. Before becoming a global household name, who was Volodymyr Zelenskyy? How did he become Ukraine’s president at 41 years of age? How did he become the person he is today? Let’s find out.On January 25, 1978, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy was born into a Jewish family in the city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine. After obtaining a law degree, Volodymyr decided to pursue his passion for becoming an artist and entertainer. His talent in comedy was apparent when he won the national comedy competition, KVN, or “Club of the Funny and Inventive,” at 19. Mr. Zelenskyy's presidential campaign was unconventional. Instead of going to campaign rallies or interviewing with the mainstream media, he mainly used social media and his own production company Kvartal 95 to speak to the people directly. In an interview with the German weekly news magazine Der Spiegel, he said, "I want to bring professional, decent people to power and would really like to change the mood and timbre of the political establishment as much as possible." Immediately after Russia’s assault, Mr. Zelenskyy declared martial law and cut diplomatic ties with Russia. Since then, His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy has frequently posted virtual messages, delivered timely reports on the truth of the war, and encouraged his fellow country people, which has attracted global attention and mobilized international assistance. “We are all here. Our soldiers are here. Our citizens are here, and we are here. We defend our independence.” During the recent conferences with Supreme Master Television team members on the current state in Ukraine, Supreme Master Ching Hai commented several times on the outstanding leadership of His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The following is from a discussion on March 18: “(President Zelenskyy visited wounded soldiers recovering at a military hospital. He also awarded the troops and hospital workers with medals. It shows Zelenskyy has a very good heart and he’s a kind leader.) That’s the way he should do anyway. It’s good. He seems to be a very kind and reasonable guy. And at least he sticks his neck out for his country. He’s not a coward and he’s not running away. He’s the main reason that the soldiers are fighting well and hard. Because he makes a good example. He encourages them. He inspires them.” Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Respectfully present the Shining World Leadership Award for Bravery to His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with high salute and deep admiration for the extraordinary leadership and noble spirit you have demonstrated in defending the freedom and sovereignty of Ukraine. May you and the brave people of Ukraine always be shielded through God’s Protection and Blessings. May the Freedom that you and your people treasure and protect above your lives forever prevail by Heaven 's Decree.”

His Excellency George Washington: Father of His Country, Part 1 of 2

George Washington was born in 1732, a fourth generation Virginian. His father passed away when he was just 11, and his education was modest. The first position he held was as a land surveyor. In 1752, following the death of one of his brothers, George Washington inherited the family estate at Mount Vernon, on the banks of the Potomac River. This would be his home for the rest of his life. He also took over his brother’s position as major in Virginia’s militia, where he began his military career. Although his tall stature made him an easy target, as a devout Anglican, George Washington had a secret power on the battlefield: his unshakable faith in God. In 1755, after miraculously being protected and surviving the conflict, 23-year-old George Washington wrote to his brother John Augustine: “But by the All-Powerful Dispensations of Providence, I have been protected beyond all human probability and expectation...” Amidst the conflict that continued for eight long and grueling years, George Washington always remembered the vanquished and prayed for an end to the hostilities. After one of many battles, he ordered the next day to be: “...a day of fasting, prayer and humiliation, to implore the Lord and Giver of all victory to pardon our manifold sins and wickedness, and that it would please Him to bless the Continental army with His Divine favor and protection.” At the end of 1777, the Continental Army set up camp in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania for the duration of winter. They were short of supplies and faced hunger and illness amidst the bitter cold. It is said that George Washington often went into the woods by himself and humbly prayed to God for his country. “In that woods pointing to a close in view, I heard a plaintive sound as, of a man at prayer. I tied my horse to a sapling and went quietly into the woods and to my astonishment I saw the great George Washington on his knees alone, with his sword on one side and his cocked hat on the other. He was at Prayer to the God of the Armies, beseeching to interpose with his Divine aid, as it was ye Crisis, and the cause of the country, of humanity, and of the world.”

Inventor Nikola Tesla (vegetarian): Noble Benefactor of Modern Civilization, Part 3 of 3

In 1896, Nikola Tesla, now known as “The Man of Science,” finally met Swami Vivekananda, “The Man of God.” Both leaders were keen to delve deeper into the interrelations between science and spirituality. In 1900, Nikola Tesla published an article in “Century Illustrated Magazine” in which he pointed out the problem of food scarcity. He mentioned: “That we can subsist on plant food and perform our work even to advantage is not a theory, but a well-demonstrated fact. There is no doubt that some plant food, such as oatmeal, is more economical than meat, and superior to it in regard to both mechanical and mental performance. In view of these facts every effort should be made to stop the wanton and cruel slaughter of animals, which must be destructive to our morals.” In 1926, Nikola Tesla already described the modern smartphone: “We shall be able to communicate with one another instantly, irrespective of distance.” Anticipating the tragic consequences of climate change, he began to explore the idea of “free energy” and methods of production. Recently, a declassified FBI document entitled “Nikola Tesla Part 03 of 3” revealed that Nikola Tesla came from Venus. He left behind a treasure trove of top scientific secrets and patents. Nikola Tesla had more than 1,000 invention patents on record. Nikola Tesla’s scientific creations were considered 300 to 1,000 years ahead of his time. In 2008, Supreme Master Ching Hai also mentioned Mr. Tesla’s inventions. “Perhaps people in power will rethink about Tesla’s inventions and make use of them for the good of all. It’s a pity that when he was alive and his thinking was way ahead of his time, and also probably would not be very good news for some people who want to control the financial aspect of the world. I hope people will wake up soon, soon. Because despite all this, we will, still can halt the destructive climate change and buy some time for recovery and new technology. And the Earth can recover herself when we give her a chance and time, and not continue to exploit her ability of giving.”

His Excellency George Washington: Father of His Country, Part 2 of 2

His Excellency George Washington: Father of His Country, Part 2 of 2

Indeed, George Washington was a man of peace and had accepted his role only to serve his nation during its critical time. On December 23, 1783, he resigned as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and returned to his beloved civilian life at Mount Vernon. In 1787, the Constitutional Convention to decide how the American nation would be governed began in Philadelphia, and George Washington was elected to preside over it. The states now had to decide who would be their new nation’s first president, and George Washington was chosen unanimously, winning all 69 electoral votes. Both swearing the oath on the Bible and giving an inaugural address were ceremonial actions invented by His Excellency George Washington that have largely been followed since 1789. On October 3, 1789, recognizing “the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God,” President Washington declared November 26 as a “Day of Public Thanksgiving.” This later inspired His Excellency Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation. He later declined to run for a third term, thus setting a precedent of a two-term limit to the presidency, which was passed as a Constitutional amendment in 1947. To this day, he remains the only US president to have been elected unanimously. As one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, His Excellency George Washington is often referred to as the “Father of His Country” in recognition of his capital role in the formation of the nation. General Henry Knox stated, “General Washington fills his place with vast ease and dignity and dispenses happiness around him.” In a recent conference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, Master graciously revealed Her fascinating relationship with His Excellency George Washington: “(We were wondering if Master has ever been a US president in the past or even one of the Founding Fathers?) Why you keep asking this kind of question? I cannot even prove it. I know. President Washington? (Yes, Master.) That was your Master. (Oh!) Surprised you. (Yeah.) Maybe that’s why I can talk politics these few days. I know the inside and the outside. I know the opposition and the self.” Upon screening this show, Supreme Master Ching Hai conveyed the following comments to the Supreme Master Television team: “Godlove folks! Thank you, all. For some reasons, this show brought M (Master) tears! M watched it again and again.”

Inspired Doctor and Clairvoyant Michel de Nostredame, Part 1 of 2

Michel de Nostredame, better known as Nostradamus, was a widely read prophet during the Renaissance period. To date, he is said to have accurately predicted such events as the rise of Napoléon Bonaparte, the atomic bombs in Japan, the death of US President John F. Kennedy, the events of 9/11, and even the COVID-19 pandemic. Nostradamus was said to have an almost divine memory and a cheerful, pleasant character. His classmates called him “the young astrologer” because “he would point out and explain to them the celestial phenomena.” Records show that on October 23, 1529, Michel de Nostredame was admitted to the faculty of medicine in Montpellier to earn his doctorate in medicine. He nicknamed himself “Nostradamus,” which means “We give what is ours, we pass on our knowledge.” Nostradamus was passionate about the study of medicinal plants. Throughout his travels, he concentrated on courageously helping victims of the plague. Michel de Nostredame was very innovative. He also created herbal treatments, one of which became known as the “rose pill.” His cure rate was so good that he became quite famous for his novel therapeutic approach. Somewhere along the way, it is said that Michel de Nostredame attended ancient mystical schools and experienced some type of psychic awakening. The first account of his psychic abilities occurred in the late 1530s, while in Italy, when he met a group of Franciscan monks and addressed one of them as “His Holiness,” thus identifying him as a future pope. During a lecture in 1994, Supreme Master Ching Hai spoke about how Nostradamus attained his prophetic insights. “He led a life of a very, very busy physician. But even then, all day he took care of the patients; in the nighttime, he meditated. People said he would sit all night and stare in a bowl of water or the black mirror – called “black mirror.” Probably he put a black mirror on it, probably he looked at his black mirror here, the way we do. That was how he saw things far away from his period of time even, and many things he saw have been proven accurate. Is that not so? Also, he predicted the present savior of the world. It was very accurate, very accurate.”

Nikola Tesla (vegetarian): Inventor & Noble Benefactor of Modern Civilization, Part 1 of 3

Nikola Tesla was an exceptionally brilliant electrical engineer and was perhaps one of the greatest inventors that ever lived. He once declared, “What one man calls God, another calls the laws of physics.” Using his God-given talents in physics, Nikola Tesla devoted his entire life wholly for the betterment of humanity and helped modernize the world. He gave us long-distance electricity transmission and created the famous “Tesla coil.” His electric induction motors operate our appliances and run our factories. He brought in the radio, robotics, remote control, and computer technology. His alternating-current (AC) electric system has remained the primary electrical system and is still used across the world today. In fact, Tesla’s contemporary admirers regard him as the man who invented the 20th century. Commenting on Nikola Tesla’s remarkable inventions, Supreme Master Ching Hai said: “What Tesla invented uses free energy and free electricity. But he was facing competition because wired electricity had already been invented, so they suppressed his inventions. And he couldn’t reveal publicly a lot of his inventions. Many of them disappeared. After he made those inventions, his life became endangered. The Tesla car was one of his inventions, but maybe many of his original inventions are not available. I wanted to support this new technology and I like him so much. It’s such a pity that we have so much jealousy in this world, much more than the desire to contribute service. Otherwise, our world could be much more advanced.” Encyclopedia Britannica continues to list Nikola Tesla as “one of the top ten most fascinating people in history.” Throughout his childhood and the greater part of his life, Nikola Tesla had visions that were so vivid he had difficulty making out whether what he saw was real or imagined. Nikola Tesla’s Serbian parents played a leading role in molding his growth and development. As early as five years of age, he started introducing inventions that were absolutely original and of his own making.

Beloved Mystic Sufi Poet Hafez, Part 1 of 2

Beloved Mystic Sufi Poet Hafez, Part 1 of 2

An influential figure in the world of Persian poetry, the beloved mystic and Sufi poet Khwāja Shams-ud-Dīn Muḥammad Ḥāfeẓ-e Shīrāzī, more commonly referred to as Hafez, has uplifted the hearts of readers in both the East and the West. From the 14th century to the present day, whether with monarchs or the average civilian, Hafez’s words are like a cool springtime breeze that refreshes and replenishes our spirit.Hafez was born in 1315 AD in the city of Shiraz in Persia, or present-day Iran. Shiraz is known as the city of gardens, a place of culture and trade in the southwest of the country.Ultimately, Hafez’s poetry intimates that Allah is to be considered as the only reality and all expressions of love as instances of Allah’s Love and Divine beauty. This is an underlying theme in Sufism and “spiritual romanticism,” a term often used to describe Hafez’s works. The ecstasy or joy in realizing the Divine is often described in Hafez’s poetry, which speaks to us with great wit and wisdom from the heart. Hafez’s poetry also espoused a spirituality of sincerity, which often presented itself in opposition to puritanical and hypocritical religious behavior. The freedom and play of words in Hafez’s poetry shows that he had a joyful sense of humor and was indeed an initiate of a mystic order, yet he maintained the outer life of a cosmopolitan citizen. Having been married in his twenties, he was a husband and a father, one who was familiar with the knowledge of worldly things such as music, chess, and backgammon.Hafez also often speaks of the need for a spiritual Master on the path of God in his work, and suggests that he had one himself. Later, Hafez was successful in meeting his spiritual Master, Haji Zayn al-Attar, who taught private discipline and intense study with sincere communion at dawn, in the evening, and at midnight, rather than regular prayer sessions spoken by rote.

Inventor Nikola Tesla (vegetarian): Noble Benefactor of Modern Civilization, Part 2 of 3

The achievements that followed were not only due to Nikola’s mental prowess, but also sheer will; he had big dreams and was determined to accomplish them. In 1881, Nikola Tesla was living in Budapest and working for the Central Telephone Exchange. Nikola Tesla captured his thoughts in a diagram, drawn with a stick on the sand. This invention would forever change the world. The diagram depicted the induction motor and was presented and explained six years later in his lecture before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Tesla also stated, “The day science begins to study the non-physical (spiritual) phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.” In February 1882, Nikola Tesla had another epiphany about motors. Suddenly, he had a vision of using a rotating magnetic field in his motor, the basis with which nearly all devices using alternating currents now operate. He worked briefly as an electrical engineer at the Edison Machine Works, putting in 19 hours of work daily, from 10:30 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. the next day. Nikola Tesla came up with a set of some 24 improved and redesigned pieces of equipment to replace Edison’s existing machines. “Telautomatics” is defined here in Tesla’s writings: Whether the automaton be of flesh and bone, or of wood and steel, it mattered little, provided it could provide all the duties required of it like an intelligent being... My telautomaton, for instance, opens up a new art which will sooner or later render large guns entirely useless, and will make impossible the building of large battleships, and will... compel the nations to come to an understanding for the maintenance of peace.” His brain had become a virtual laboratory where he could successfully build mental pictures of any models, drawings, or experiments that he needed, all without putting pen to paper. He found this modus operandi to have great merit, and in over two decades of inventing, his devices always worked as he meant them to, without exception. He was bestowed with 15 honorary degrees from universities across the world, amongst them, Yale and Columbia in the United States, and 14 Meritorious Awards from various world class institutions.

Johann Sebastian Bach: A Magnificent Musician’s Creative Genius, Part 1 of 2

Johann Sebastian Bach: A Magnificent Musician’s Creative Genius, Part 1 of 2

A German composer, harpsichordist, organist, and violinist of the Baroque period, as well as an expert on organ-building, Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisenach, Germany, on March 21, 1685. Generally regarded as one of the most prolific and greatest composers of all time, he is known for the Brandenburg Concertos and the Goldberg Variations, as well as the Mass in B minor. Bach explored every major style and musical genre of his time. He also developed these styles and blended them together in new ways, combining the emotional with the intellectual. In 1700, young Bach was offered a choral scholarship to the prestigious Saint Michael’s school in Luneburg. He enrolled with his lifelong friend Georg Erdmann. During his two years at the school, Johann Sebastian Bach was exposed to the diversity of European culture. He played the school’s organ and harpsichords, and also sang in the choir. In 1707, Johann Sebastian Bach was appointed organist at the Blasius Church in Mühlhausen, Thuringia, with good remuneration and improved working conditions. Four months later, Johann Sebastian Bach married Maria Barbara Bach.During his time in Mühlhausen, he produced several church cantatas based on biblical texts. The first of Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions to be published was Cantata No.71, “Gott ist mein Konig,” in 1708. At Mühlhausen, he encouraged music in the villages. He persuaded his employers to rebuild the organ and supervised the restoration. Johann Sebastian Bach composed most of his great organ works during the time he spent as an organist to William Ernest, the Duke of Saxe-Weimar. In 1714, he was made concertmaster and had to write a cantata every month for church services. He took part in musical activities at the Gelbes Schloss, or Yellow Castle, where Duke Ernest’s nephews were staying and taught both of them. During the years 1708 to 1714, Johann Sebastian Bach’s style underwent a profound change. He had been influenced by the new styles of the contemporary Italian opera and by Italian concerto composers such as Antonio Vivaldi.

Her Excellency Aung San Suu Kyi: The Lady’s Love of Freedom, Democracy and Peace, Part 1 of 2

Her Excellency Aung San Suu Kyi: The Lady’s Love of Freedom, Democracy and Peace, Part 1 of 2

“The Lady” is how most people in Myanmar refer to Aung San Suu Kyi, a democracy icon and leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD). In 2015 the NLD won the general elections to become Myanmar’s first non-military government in 54 years. Aung San Suu Kyi received the Thorolf Rafto Memorial Prize for promoting the fundamental human rights of intellectual and political freedom, the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, the Nobel Peace Prize, and India’s Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding. The US House of Representatives awarded her the Congressional Gold Medal in 2008 and in 2014 she was listed as the 61st most powerful woman in the world by Forbes. To this day, she remains a symbol of human rights and an “indispensable” force for the peace process in Myanmar. Although her father passed away when she was just two years old, Suu Kyi remains emotionally close to him and his ideologies. She has in some sense extended his legacy of love and dedication to their homeland by virtue of her active role in the pro-democracy events in the country, starting with the 8.8.88 Uprising. Aung San expressed her personal views on democracy in this 1988 speech as follows: “Democracy is the only ideology which is consistent with freedom. It is also an ideology that promotes and strengthens peace. It is therefore the only ideology we should aim for. That is what my father said. It is the reason why I am participating in this struggle for freedom and democracy in the footsteps and traditions of my father. To achieve democracy the people should be united.”Many are aware that Suu Kyi is deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and opposes violence of any kind. She has a clear mission and vision that nothing can keep her from fulfilling. In 1991, she won the Nobel Prize for her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights. Later, after enduring long and repeated struggles and oppression, in June 2012, Suu Kyi was finally able to accept the Nobel Peace Prize in person. The Norwegian Nobel Committee chairman, His Excellency Thorbjørn Jagland, paid tribute to her “awe-inspiring tenacity, sacrifice, and firmness of principle.”

Dr. Albert Einstein (vegetarian): Nobel Laureate and Scientist Extraordinaire, Part 2 of 2

“Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” - Dr. Albert Einstein. In respecting the sanctity of all lives, throughout his existence, Dr. Albert Einstein believed in the ideals of vegetarianism. He wrote in a letter to Germany Vegetarian Watch-Tower on December 27, 1930: "…I have long been an adherent to the cause in principle. Besides agreeing with the aims of vegetarianism for aesthetic and moral reasons, it is my view that a vegetarian manner of living by its purely physical effect on the human temperament would most beneficially influence the lot of mankind." Dr. Einstein's respect for life naturally led him to be a humanitarian and advocate for social justice, freedom, and peace. With the onset of the atomic era, Dr. Einstein realized that nuclear weapons were a profound risk to humanity and could bring an end to civilization. During the last decade of his life, he was tireless in his efforts to create effective international cooperation to disarm nuclear weapons and to prevent wars.

Vladimir Megre & “The Ringing Cedars of Russia,” Part 1 of 2

Today, we will be exploring the life and vision of Vladimir Megre, who won the Gusi Peace Prize in 2011 and has been listed by the Watkins “Mind Body Spirit” magazine as one of “100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People.” The Ukrainian-born Russian author and entrepreneur is known for his best-selling chronicle series entitled “The Ringing Cedars of Russia.” 02:59)Vladimir Megre presents Anastasia, a reclusive woman of the Siberian forest with timeless wisdom encompassing life, nature, and the universe. The books have inspired an ever-expanding group of adherents that explore a way of life in tune with the universal principles of balance and harmony. These readers have dedicated themselves to understanding the spiritual relationship between themselves and nature. On his next expedition up the river, he hoped more than anything to find out more about the ringing cedars phenomenon. In his now famous book “Anastasia,” Vladimir Megre describes the amazing meeting with a hermit woman who agrees to show him the prized healing cones of the ringing cedars. This is the incredible beginning of the introduction to Anastasia’s wisdom, which becomes the central thread of “The Ringing Cedars of Russia” series. The book, “Anastasia,” is not only a personal odyssey, but a manifesto in pure natural living, proposing a scenario in which humanity returns to a “Garden of Eden” state by disentangling itself from the ineffective ways of the material world. Anastasia explains that only by living in accordance with harmonious universal principles can humanity finally achieve lasting peace and prosperity. Her wisdom, through Vladimir Megre’s books, has inspired countless people to return to a self-sufficient lifestyle through small scale-farming of plant-based produce that is wholistic, healthy, and also reconnects people with nature. Anastasia has an exceptional way of life, living totally within nature, with just a few items of clothing and dwelling in harmony with all of the forest inhabitants. Lovingly, the squirrels not only provide her with a supply of cedar nuts, but also collect berries and mushrooms for her to eat. Anastasia’s state of total purity attunes her with the natural elements, enabling tremendous natural powers that leave Vladimir at times overwhelmed…

Inspired Doctor and Clairvoyant Michel de Nostredame, Part 2 of 2

14:23

Inspired Doctor and Clairvoyant Michel de Nostredame, Part 2 of 2

In the mid-1540s, Michel de Nostredame returned to France to continue treating plague victims. He researched and prepared plant-based remedies, such as “a sovereign scent powder to drive out pestilential odors” which could only be made once a year during the rose season.During 1548 to 1549, Michel de Nostredame journeyed through Italy. Nostradamus began experimenting with treatments based on vegetable jams. By this time, he had published two books on medical science. One was a translation of “Galen, the Roman Physician,” and the second was “Traité des fardemens et confitures,” meaning “The Treatise on Makeups and Jams,” containing recipes for foods, treatments, and cosmetics.Increasingly, Michel de Nostredame moved away from medical science and focused more on the occult. He would spend hours meditating at night in front of a bowl of water with special herbs. In deep meditation, he was transported into a trance where he had a multitude of visions. Those visions are believed to have been the basis of his predictions.Yearly almanacs were a popular publication at the time. Michel de Nostredame saw this as a perfect vehicle for his predictions and published his first almanac in 1550. Nostradamus continued to publish almanacs, but the book that made him the world-famous prophet we know today was his book “Les Prophéties,” or “The Prophecies.” Nostradamus himself stated that his prophecies extend “from now to the year 3797.”In 1994, Supreme Master Ching Hai spoke of Nostradamus’s predictions. During a conference in 2018, our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai mentioned how Nostradamus and many of the beloved beings have suffered on this planet. His bones were first buried in the church of the convent of the Friars Minor, known as the Convent of the Cordeliers, as he had wished, where the epitaph was engraved: “Greatest God. Here rest the bones of the illustrious Michel de Nostredame, alone of all mortals judged worthy to record with his almost divine pen, under the influence of the stars, the future events of the whole world.”

Marva Collins: The Outstanding Educational Reformer, Part 1 of 2

Marva Collins: The Outstanding Educational Reformer, Part 1 of 2

Today is World Teachers’ Day, an international event launched by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994. To celebrate this special day, we reflect on one distinguished educator’s story. Marva Collins became internationally renowned for developing her own educational methods and empowering her students. She has written books and manuals describing her history and methodology. The 1981 biographical TV movie entitled “The Marva Collins Story,” starring Cicely Tyson and Morgan Freeman, was released as a tribute to her success.Although she had no teaching certificate, Mrs. Collins was hired to teach second grade in public schools in Chicago as a full-time substitute teacher for 14 years. Through her experiences in that teaching system, Mrs. Collins found that the quality of education her own children were receiving deserved to be better. She was dissatisfied with its unfavorable treatment and attitude toward impoverished inner-city students. Marva Collins disregarded the Board of Education’s teaching guide and trusted her own experience. Rather than going by the public schools’ methods, which used books with pictures and dull workbooks, she developed her own teaching methods that truly worked, using phonics to teach reading and adding literary classics and poetry into the curriculum. Mrs. Collins facilitated discussions of the readings and had students memorize poetry. She used positive methods of discipline to address misconducts. “It’s always the children are the big ‘YOU’s’ and we are all the little ‘I’s.’ The teachers are not the big ‘I’s’ in our school. No teacher in our school has a desk. We do not have a chair nor a teacher’s desk. We walk all day. We serve the children. We find something positive to say about a child every morning: ‘I like your gym shoes. I like your ribbon. I like your blue jeans.’ We find something to say good to a child every morning. That’s just as important as the curriculum.”

Vladimir Megre & “The Ringing Cedars of Russia,” Part 2 of 2

Vladimir Megre & “The Ringing Cedars of Russia,” Part 2 of 2

In “Anastasia,” Vladimir Megre’s personal spiritual development unfolds throughout the pages of this compelling tale. Reading this series of books, we are inspired by the story of one ordinary man’s unravelling as he is challenged by the soul-driven radiance of Anastasia. Anastasia, who only knows truth, and who lives and breathes purity, observes a special quality within Vladimir, an otherwise conventional businessman. She arranges a three-day process in which he undergoes molecular rearrangement and experiences firsthand the underlying principles of nature. Vladimir Megre finds himself having to dispel doubt and judgement to move beyond his typically rigid and theoretical mindset. Sufficiently intrigued by Anastasia’s wisdom, lightness, and apparent contentment, he endeavors to sincerely understand what many others in this world might consider a radical departure from normality. “God is the interplanetary Mind, or intelligence. He is not to be found in a single mass. Half of Him is in the non-material realm of the Universe. This is the sum total of all energies. The other half of Him is dispersed across the Earth, in every individual, in every Man. The dark forces strive to block these particles.” “Everything – but everything – on Earth, every blade of grass, every insect, has been created for Man, and everything has its individual appointed task to perform in the service of Man. The multitude of medicinal plants are a confirmation of this. But people in your world know very little about how to benefit from the opportunities they are presented with – about how to take full advantage of them.” Anastasia’s insight into the human condition is aided, we learn, by her ability to “observe” anyone at will through the use of an inner telepathic ray, a facility she says that everyone possesses, and which she also encourages Vladimir to develop. According to Anastasia, it is very important for the person who will eat the fruits and vegetables to grow them from seedlings, taking an intimate role in the plant’s development. In this way, the plants can silently assimilate information about the person’s bodily needs and heal them accordingly.

Empress Sisi: The Beautiful Free-Spirited Monarch of Austria, Part 1 of 2

Empress Elisabeth of Austria, or Empress Sisi, as she was fondly known, is revered as ultimate fairytale royalty - beautiful, spirited and enigmatic. Along with her husband, Franz Josef, she wore the crown of the Danube Monarchy from 1854 to 1898, governing a vast pluralistic state in central and southeast Europe. Though the life of Empress Sisi is still a mystery shrouded in myths, her poetry reflects Her Majesty’s true spirit. They portray a deeply sensitive and spiritual woman who carried out only good works and longed for higher realms, a being who mastered the art of perceiving the essence of things, going beyond appearances and courtly pageantry.

Dr. Albert Einstein (vegetarian): Nobel Laureate and Scientist Extraordinaire, Part 1 of 2

Dr. Albert Einstein was an internationally acclaimed physicist and Nobel Laureate. His scientific theories on relativity and his work on space-time helped charter the course of modern physics. In 1999, Time Magazine named him “The Person of the Century.” Albert Einstein was born to middle-class Jewish parents in 1879, in Ulm, Germany. 1905 became his Annus mirabilis, or “miracle year,” when Dr. Einstein published four papers in the Annalen der physik scientific journal. Those four history-making papers - detailing the theory of photoelectric effect, the Brownian motion, the theory on special relativity, and the mass-energy equivalence - revolutionized the field of modern physics forever. Dr. Albert Einstein’s 1905 photoelectric effect paper, which would later earn him the Nobel Prize in Physics, was indeed revolutionary. It is Einstein’s “Quantum Theory of Light” that founded modern-day quantum physics. This sealed Albert Einstein’s fame internationally as a leading physicist. Dr. Albert Einstein emphasized not only scientific and technological development, but also the importance of higher morality.

Dr. Rudolf Steiner: Bridging the Physical and Spiritual

Rudolf Joseph Lorenz Steiner was born in 1861 at Kraljevec, present-day Croatia. Dr. Rudolf Steiner was a great polymath, a philosopher and scientist. An eloquent public speaker and gifted writer, he gave over 6,000 lectures in his lifetime, and he published more than 25 books. He developed and taught a path of research called anthroposophy, based on “the science of the spirit.” Rudolf Steiner was also a vegetarian. He placed great emphasis on the benefits of meditation. In 1913, Rudolf Steiner designed and built the Goetheanum, a “school of spiritual science,” in Dornach, Switzerland. This has become the world center for the anthroposophical movement. He believed that education should focus on the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each student. In 1919, the first free Waldorf School was founded in Stuttgart, Germany, based on Dr. Steiner’s philosophy. Now, a century later, there are more than 1,000 of these Waldorf and Steiner Schools in 64 countries.

Mark Twain: Great American Literature

Mark Twain: Great American Literature

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was considered one of the greatest American authors and humorists. Among his many works, his novels “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and its sequel “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” have become classics in American literature. A man of many talents, Mark Twain was also a riverboat pilot, journalist, lecturer, inventor, and entrepreneur. His writing style was usually informal and amusing, differentiating him from other important 19th-century writers. He once wrote, “Humor is mankind's greatest blessing.” In 1865, his short story “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” was published. The entertaining tale was printed in newspapers across the country and brought him national attention. His next step to success came in 1869, with the publication of his first book, “The Innocents Abroad.” It became a nationwide bestseller. In 1883, Mark Twain published one of his most important works, “Life on the Mississippi.” Both entertaining and informative, it is a textbook on the history‚ life, and lore of the Mississippi River during the 19th century. In addition, Mr. Twain was a humanitarian who cared for the rights of people from the humans and animal kingdoms alike. He believed that animal-people are intelligent, morally upright beings, and spoke out against the use of people from the animal kingdom in sports, entertainment, and research, including cock-people fighting and bull-people fighting. In a letter to the London Anti-vivisection Society, he wrote: “I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn’t. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it. The pains which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity towards it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further.” Here, Samuel Clemens, lauded as the great writer Mark Twain, passed away at the age of 74 on April 21, 1910.
