Aerobic Dance – A Fun Way to Get in Shape, Part 2 of 2

00:11:40

Aerobic Dance – A Fun Way to Get in Shape, Part 2 of 2

In this episode, we’ll talk about selecting appropriate workout gear and dance music as well as give some tips to help with forming an exercise habit. For aerobic dance,it's best to wear material that is stretchy, breathable, and moisture-wicking, such as lycra or spandex, or wear loose-fitting sweatpants and a t-shirt. Since aerobic dancing involves plenty of footwork such as twisting, sliding, jumping, and leaping for extended periods, wearing proper dance shoes is crucial. Combining aerobic dance workouts with a healthy vegan diet will further improve your fitness. A plant-based diet is usually high in carbohydrates, which is the major energy source for aerobic exercises. Music is an integral part of aerobic dancing, and for those exercising at home, choosing tracks based on enjoyment and rhythm help you build momentum to keep you going. Aerobic dancing is a great exercise that everyone can benefit from and enjoy.

Stopping Zoonotic Diseases: The Vegan Lifestyle Matters, Part 2 of 2

Stopping Zoonotic Diseases: The Vegan Lifestyle Matters, Part 2 of 2

Today, we will talk about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and provide some tips from experts to help lessen the risk of infection. Like other coronaviruses, SARS-CoV-2 jumped from animals to humans. Some scientists theorize the pathogen started in bats, jumped to pangolins, and then to humans. The data and research findings from previous zoonotic disease epidemic and pandemic events and the current situation with COVID-19, clearly demonstrate that emergency action is needed and governments worldwide should now immediately ban all animal livestock raising and the sale of meat whether from domestic or wild animals to not only to protect global public health and save lives but also to show kindness and respect to our animal friends. Currently, the best way to protect yourself from getting infected by the novel coronavirus is to avoid being exposed to it. Regular hand washing is strongly recommended to help prevent infection. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers (at least 60% concentration). To avoid crowds and large gatherings, skipping non-essential trips outside the home and avoiding close contact with others by foregoing greetings like handshakes and hugging. A surgical mask is designed to guard against splashes and droplets and also wall off the droplets from the wearer.

Acupuncturist Lisa K.Y. Wong (vegan): The Magic of Auricular Medicine, Part 1 of 3

Today, we feature the first portion of our interview with Lisa K.Y. Wong, a vegan licensed acupuncturist and Auricular Medicine specialist in California, USA. Ms. Wong will graciously guide us to better understand the ear and our body’s powerful self-healing system through the viewpoint of Auricular Medicine. “It is a complete, comprehensive medical modality, where we use the ear to do diagnosis and treatment of all the conditions in the body, up to 200 diseases, and 500 symptoms. Many of the symptoms that most people don’t even know about until much later. Ms. Wong is the founder of the Center for Healing by Design, a non-profit organization established in 2015 to help people get in touch with their doctor within. Lisa developed the Healing By Design Method, an easy 3-step process that uses the body’s built-in tools for self-healing and accelerating repair and recovery. The organization’s vision is to engage, educate and empower people worldwide with effective self-care skills to prevent and overcome health challenges in their lives. To convey her passion for spreading this easy and effective self-care method globally, Lisa scaled the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, in July 2015 for her initiative called “Climb Every Mountain Self-Care Movement.” The project’s vision is to help people prevent illness and disease at almost no cost, improve lives for people with and without access to medical care, empower people to heal themselves by using the body’s wisdom and ignite a transformation in healthcare treatment through the concept of self-care. The ear is a small, yet important, part of our body in promoting health. It’s not merely an organ for hearing, but also a sophisticated structure which can be used to treat diseases. Healing through ear manipulation has been employed for approximately 2,500 years. It is recorded in the Huang Di Nei Jing, or The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, an ancient Chinese medical text that has been regarded as the fundamental doctrinal source for Traditional Chinese Medicine. How miraculous that the body can really tell us all the conditions about, what of the body is going on, dealing with, and allows us to treat as well by manipulating the acupressure points in the ear, whether we do it with needles, or using just simply a finger. All the different ways to manipulate the ear, by giving massage, or heat, or all kinds of ways to get the body to change the energy in the body.

Stopping Zoonotic Diseases: The Vegan Lifestyle Matters, Part 1 of 2

This two-part series focuses on certain epidemics and pandemics from the past two decades that have killed many, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS), Ebola, swine flu, avian flu, and coronavirus and their roots in meat consumption or animal livestock raising, or both. We also cover how a plant-based diet is the best way to minimize zoonotic diseases or infectious diseases caused by the transmission of germs between animals and humans. “Scientists estimate that more than 6 out of every 10 known infectious diseases in people can be spread from animals, and 3 out of every 4 new or emerging infectious diseases in people come from animals.” This is known as zoonotic disease transmission. The CDC defines an epidemic as the number of cases of a transmittable disease arising suddenly above the expected level in a given population within a short period of time. A pandemic is “an epidemic that has spread over several countries or continents, usually affecting a large number of people.” It turns out that Mother Nature has already warned humanity about the meat-eating habit. The simple solution of adopting a vegan lifestyle to prevent zoonotic epidemics has been known for a long time. However, this obvious answer has been ignored….

Mind-Body-Chi – Dr. Wen B-Chen’s Marvelous Relaxation Exercises, Part 1 of 5 (Hsin-Chu, Formosa)

Chi gong is an ancient Chinese exercise that people practice to cultivate the chi – the vital life-force all around and within us. It utilizes meditation, controlled breathing, guided visualization and movements to stimulate the flow of chi throughout the body, thus assisting one in self-healing and preventing illnesses. Tai chi, a popular form of chi gong exercise, is now regarded as a health-promoting activity worldwide. This five-part series features our interview with Dr. Wen B-Chen, the creator of the marvelous Mind-Body-Chi (MBC) relaxation exercise program that incorporates the essence of chi gong, tai chi, yoga and meditation. He will present a unique interpretation of MBC’s various health benefits from a Western medical perspective and give demonstrations of the MBC exercises. Dr. Wen is a former radiation oncologist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami, USA. He was also the radiation oncology medical director at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, USA. “For people at the age of 30 to 55, that’s my target. Some of them really don’t have time to do exercise to maintain their health. I put together these movements and breathing to help those people. As long as they carve out a certain portion of time for themselves during the day, then their health gets maintained.” “MBC stands for Mind, Body, Chi, and Chi is c-h-i. In our (Chinese) culture, chi represents air, or spirit, or breath, or vitalities. We were taught in our culture that chi exists everywhere, in the universe and in our bodies. Inside the body, chi is supposed to follow the blood, or even go with the blood and nurture our internal organs and extremities, joints, and muscles.” To cater to senior citizens, Dr. Wen has recently expanded the MBC program from the original 6 exercises to 10, with the sequence rearranged. In our series, we’ll cover all 10 exercises. Let’s now see Dr. Wen's demonstration of exercise #1 and #2 of the MBC program.

Hydroponics for a Sustainable and Healthy Life

00:13:32

Hydroponics for a Sustainable and Healthy Life

Hydroponics has gained popularity in recent years. Hydroponics may be defined as the science of growing plants without soil. A nutrient solution that contains all the essential elements needed for optimum growth and development is delivered directly to the plant. Hydroponics is not only a convenient and affordable method of farming but also contributes to a sustainable lifestyle. The growth rate of a hydroponic plant is 30-50% faster than a soil-based plant grown under the same conditions. Hydroponics can help address the issue of food shortages globally and bring fresh, healthful produce closer to densely-populated areas. With the advancement of technology, the footprint required for hydroponics is decreasing. Hydroponics allows people to grow plants year-round, regardless of unfavorable weather or environmental conditions such as poor soil. Hydroponic cultivation in urban and suburban spaces can be a bonding activity for family and friends, thus boosting people’s mental health.

The Magic Plant: Moringa Oleifera

“Moringa is consumed daily in India, Africa, and even the Philippines, where it is quite popular. This special plant is highly recommended by many natural therapists and experts that research medically valuable plants.” “Those [moringa] seeds can be consumed raw. We can take them dry. When they are consumed raw, they have other advantages; when they are consumed dry, they also have other advantages. We can also talk about the roots of the moringa which are also used when we want to make some medicines or some ointments, we use it. The ash even, the ash from fallen branches of the moringa, this ash is also useful. All parts of moringa oleifera are useful. Due to those three kinds of scientifically-proven advantages, moringa is called the ‘miracle plant.’ Through long-lasting, daily, regular consumption, one will notice the change!” “Moringa is a very unusual and unique plant because it not only contains a wide variety of nutrients but also they are present in large amounts. The leaves and seeds of moringa possess abundant vitamins, enzymes, amino acids, fats, minerals, and phytochemicals.” “Generally speaking, for the same quantity of moringa and the same quantity of fruits and vegetables that I will mention in a second; we have four times more vitamin A in moringa than carrots. Regarding vitamin C, we have seven times more in moringa than an orange. Regarding calcium, we have four times more (calcium) in moringa than milk. If we take beef for example, we have four times more protein in moringa than beef. There is 25-times more iron in derivatives of moringa than spinach derivatives that we call here gboma.” Different parts of this plant, such as roots, leaves, and seeds, are applied for various therapeutic purposes. Moringa has high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that may lower one’s cancer risk. Research has also shown it is effective in preventing or treating various gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and infectious diseases. “It has an effect against bacteria! So, when you are used to using moringa, bacteria have no way to grow in your body. There is also an effect against viruses. This substance does not allow viruses to grow.”

Assimilating the Yoga Spirit into Daily Life, Part 1 of 2

Yoga originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and was introduced to Western society in the 19th century. The many benefits it brings to body, mind, and spirit have made yoga not only a popular form of exercise but also a kind of lifestyle. Meggie has been practicing yoga for 16 years and specializes in Hatha yoga, which focuses on asanas, or pose. Asanas, pranayama, or regulation of the breath, and meditation are some of the key fundamentals of yoga. “In fact, yoga is a spiritual practice method in India. The spiritual practitioners probably do yoga first thing in the morning, then do pranayama, and meditate. This process makes their meditation more stable and concentrated.” “In the three most important yoga asanas: Salamba Sirsasana (supported headstand), Salamba Sarvnagasana (supported shoulder stand), and Paschimottanasana (seated forward bend), Salamba Sirsasana gives you 10% physical and 90% spiritual enhancement.” “In yoga practice, bending forward is about your past. Bending backward is about looking into the future, and stepping outside the comfort zone.”

Taiwan Adventist Hospital – A Vegetarian Hospital with a Caring Mission, Part 1 of 3

Taiwan Adventist Hospital – A Vegetarian Hospital with a Caring Mission, Part 1 of 3

Taiwan Adventist Hospital is one of over 170 healthcare institutions run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a Protestant Christian denomination with approximately 25 million people attending weekly worship worldwide. The facility is Formosa’s first vegetarian hospital and was initially founded in Shanghai by the legendary vegetarian American physician, Dr. Harry W. Miller, before shifting to Taipei. Known as the “China Doctor,” this Seventh-day Adventist served as a medical missionary in China for almost 70 years. In the latter part of his life, he fundraised to help establish 20 Adventist hospitals in the Far East. “We follow the spirit of Jesus Christ in providing holistic care,” is Taiwan Adventist Hospital’s mission. Holistic care is a system that cultivates a harmonious relationship among patients, families, and medical professionals while addressing the needs of the body, mind, and spirit to achieve the attainment of optimal health. To further this Christian holistic care mission, the hospital has adopted the SHARE concept to provide patients and visitors with thoughtful and heartwarming service. The goal is to also deliver compassionate and professional medical treatment. Taiwan Adventist Hospital has been providing vegetarian meals since its establishment, reflecting the guidance of Ellen White, one of the founders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She greatly influenced church doctrines, particularly concerning health and diet. In medicine, it’s well known that prevention is better than a cure. Unfortunately, many people only begin to value their health after they become seriously ill. That is why the Taiwan Adventist Hospital promotes a vegetarian diet, along with a healthy lifestyle. The vegetarian recipes used at the Taiwan Adventist Hospital feature whole foods that are low in fat, salt, and sugar. Since these recipes are beneficial for disease prevention as well as aiding treatment and postoperative care, the hospital provides healthy vegetarian food not just to patients, but also to visitors.

John Jezewski (vegan): Wellness Is in Our Hands, Part 1 of 2

Today, it is our privilege to feature excerpts from our interview with John Jezewski. He has been a registered homeopath and Living Nutrition Practitioner for almost 30 years and treated hundreds of people. This gentleman from the UK is a specialist in living nutrition, alkaline health, chronic disease, weight loss, longevity, and mental and emotional health. Additionally, he is an inspiring health coach and the founder and principal of the College of Living Nutrition that offers accredited nutrition courses in London and Birmingham for those interested in training to become a professional nutrition therapist. Mr. Jezewski is a proponent of the alkaline vegan diet. This lifestyle features a high intake of fruits, vegetables, and other healthy plant foods while restricting processed junk foods. Advocates of this way of eating say this particular diet helps maintain wellness and repels serious diseases. Our blood tends typically to be on the slightly alkaline side with a pH between 7.35 and 7.45. Therefore, by choosing more alkaline foods, it means that you may be able to “alkalize” your body to achieve or maintain the ideal pH level. “So there is a big problem. Big, big problem with people becoming too acidic, and then they resort to taking antacids. But again, you need to get to the root cause. And the root cause is eating too much food, too many drinks that are acidic. If you’re drinking cola, you’re drinking coffee, you’re drinking tea, you’re eating chips - deep-fried chips, all of this is adding to the acidity problem. And it’s a big problem. So you need to eat alkaline food, which is vegan, and alkaline - not acidic.”

Fasting Ourselves Out of the Pleasure Trap: Dr. Alan Goldhamer (vegan), Part 1 of 3

Fasting Ourselves Out of the Pleasure Trap: Dr. Alan Goldhamer (vegan), Part 1 of 3

To encourage the public to return to a healthier life, Dr. Goldhamer co-authored the book “The Pleasure Trap: Mastering The Hidden Force That Undermines Health and Happiness” to share his insightful observations on removing barriers to wellness and the practice of water fasting. In 1984, Dr. Goldhamer established the Santa Rosa, California, USA-based TrueNorth Health Center that provides medical, chiropractic, naturopathic, massage, and acupuncture services. The center is now the largest facility in the world that specializes in medically supervised water-only fasting. For more than 35 years, it has assisted over 20,000 people in regaining their health. He has followed a plant-based diet for more than 40 years and believes this healthy lifestyle is the key to reaching optimal health. His recommendations for well-being include eating whole plant foods, a SOS- (salt, oil, sugar) free diet, exercise, and sleep. As most people today are drawn to processed foods, Dr. Goldhamer considers them a pleasure trap leading to overconsumption and that this eating habit can lead to conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and auto-immune disorders. Dr. Goldhamer provides his opinion on why people are attracted to flavorsome food that is unwholesome. “This is one of the most difficult things you can ever ask a person to do - adapt a health-promoting diet in a world designed to make them fat, sick, and miserable. These are the causes of the heart disease, cancer, and stroke that are the leading causes of death and debility. And because people are addicts, it's very difficult for them at first to see it.” For people who want to back away from the pleasure trap, the TrueNorth Health Center has an effective method to help make the switch to healthy, vegan whole foods. Dr. Goldhamer explains. “That's one of the real benefits of fasting. Because during fasting, the body neuro-adapts; It's like rebooting the hard drive in a computer that's corrupted. Whole natural foods begin to have a natural appeal and the artificial stimulation that comes from essentially drugged foods if you would or foods that have these chemicals added to them, become less and less appealing.”

Protecting the Vulnerable During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Part 1 of 2

Protecting the Vulnerable During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Part 1 of 2

Worries and fears are in the hearts of everyone during this time of unease. This is especially the case for medically vulnerable populations who tend to carry these emotional burdens significantly more than healthy individuals. Older adults (those 70-plus years of age) and people who have underlying medical conditions such as a non-severe lung condition, heart disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, as well as those with a weakened immune system or are very obese are assumed to be at moderate risk for becoming seriously ill if infected by the coronavirus. Older adults with health conditions who are not leaving their homes at all right now may feel lonely, especially if their daily routine included regular interactions with family, friends or care providers. I'd like to share some simple ways you can help ease their concerns and raise their spirits during this time. Check in with them frequently by phone or even better, by video. National governments have posted public health protection measures and assistance information on their websites to help their citizens cope with this crisis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, a US government agency, provides practical advice to those with an underlying medical condition to follow during the pandemic. Here is an abbreviated list of recommendations for such persons from the CDC website. * Continue your medicines and do not change your treatment plan without talking to your doctor. * Have at least a 30-day supply of prescription and non-prescription medicines. * Do not delay getting emergency care for your underlying condition because of COVID-19. * Call your healthcare provider if you have any concerns about your underlying medical conditions or if you get sick and think you may have COVID-19. As long as the number of infected people and death toll is increasing worldwide, we all have the responsibility to take necessary precautions such as social distancing, wearing masks and practicing personal hygiene. Our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai also reminds us of the importance of safeguarding ourselves from COVID-19. All of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s tips for protection during the COVID-19 (and any other) pandemic are free for viewing and download at MastersTipsOnCOVID-19.com

Aerobic Dance – A Fun Way to Get in Shape, Part 1 of 2

Aerobic dancing is a great way to have fun, speed up your blood circulation, and keep your body in good physical condition. Multiple studies have proven that doing aerobic exercises regularly may help to regulate weight, improve cardiovascular heath, lower blood pressure as well as sugar and cholesterol levels, boost the immune system, and reduce chronic pain. In addition to the physical benefits just mentioned, these exercises may also enhance brain power, boost your mood, and alleviate stress. Dancing has a number of advantages over other aerobic exercises and has become one of the most popular ways around our world to get healthy and stay fit. Once you have decided on the right exercise frequency, you will need to select your preferred dance genre. The main types of aerobic dance are Jazzercise, Zumba, ballroom dancing, belly dancing, and Masala Bhangra. Once you have selected the intensity and genre of your dance workout, you need to choose the way to do it - hiring a private instructor, joining a group course, or dance at home.

Fasting Ourselves Out of the Pleasure Trap: Dr. Alan Goldhamer (vegan), Part 2 of 3

00:12:32

Fasting Ourselves Out of the Pleasure Trap: Dr. Alan Goldhamer (vegan), Part 2 of 3

“And so what we advocate is people eat a health-promoting whole plant food SOS-free diet. SOS is, of course, is the international symbol of danger, but it also stands for the chemicals added to food, including salt, oil, and sugar, that fool the satiety mechanisms of the brain and create what we call ‘the pleasure trap.’” Today, Dr. Goldhamer delves into the details of water fasting and how it can be a mode to restore health. "A big part of our energy and function is involved in digestion. Digestion is a really energy-consuming, intense process and that may be one of the benefits of fasting is that you don't have to put a lot of energy into all of those processes, you're living on reserves that are burned very efficiently, and it may be that the body's ‘energy’ so to speak, can be diverted into healing rather than carrying on functions of digestion and assimilation, and elimination. ” “You start with the feeding that's done before fasting. One of the things that we encourage patients to do is to adopt a whole plant food diet, but even more than that, the few days before fasting, if they limit their diet to fruit, salads, and steamed and starchy vegetables, that actually seems to be the best preparation for undergoing fasting, particularly eliminating a lot of the drugs like caffeine and other things that have such uncomfortable withdrawal reactions.” “One of the mistakes that people make is they try to maintain higher activity levels when they're fasting because they think that that's going to facilitate more weight loss, but what it actually does is it facilitates more protein breakdown. So by resting, you can increase the likelihood that most of the fuel that you are burning is going to be fat rather than protein.” “What I can tell you is that in fasting, and also in modified fasting, or fasting mimicking programs, one of the changes that happens is the satiety hormones tend to increase and so it makes it more possible to rebalance people's hormonal issues. And therefore, after fasting, they find they can reach satiety with a whole plant food diet more readily than they had when they were on a conventional program with a lot of refined carbohydrates.”

What You Eat Matters: Dr. Caroline Trapp (vegan) on Diabetes, Part 1 of 2

In this two-part program, we are privileged to hear from Dr. Caroline Trapp about the tie between diet and a chronic health condition that sadly affects about 425 million people worldwide. She is a vegan American nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing practice and more than 30 years of experience in taking care of people with diabetes. “A plant-based diet is a great way to prevent getting diabetes in the first place, and if you’ve been diagnosed with the disease, a plant-based diet has been shown to turn the disease around. The research is in. A whole food plant-based diet is really beneficial for diabetes and also for heart disease and for stroke prevention and all these other concerns for people who have the disease. A whole food plant-based diet is mostly carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans are all carbs. So, I highly recommend healthy carbs.”

Full Vibrancy and Light: Lesa Carlson (vegan) on the Raw Vegan Lifestyle, Part 2 of 2

Full Vibrancy and Light: Lesa Carlson (vegan) on the Raw Vegan Lifestyle, Part 2 of 2

‟I saw Kirlian photography, and that showed the energetic properties around food. It's around all living beings which have energy. The premise that by adding heat, you either create nutrients or up the nutrients is a false idea. When you have something that is full of life force, light energy, it's auric field, its glow, you are consuming light, we are light beings, and the properties of mass and matter, there is no difference." By eating whole vegan foods in their natural state, Lesa says we can achieve a degree of spiritual upliftment. ‟So the quantum field, the biofield of energetics, is really, as opposed to the older idea of vitamins and minerals, and fat and how many calories and this kind of thing. When you move into that it's an energetic vibrancy property, and that it is vibrating at the speed of light. And your food is not separate from that whatsoever, and it is vibrating. So when you align that with your vibrating frequency, you are going into a whole new dimension. And again, you go from, the dense food to lighter food, to food that has more water content, that lightens up your mass and matter to then full vibrancy, that then you're expanded, and you're floating, and you feel fantastic and happy. Okay, so tips on making raw food dishes palatable and exciting for yourself. First of all, play, have fun. And so when you see or feel something that's bringing you joy, or sparks that little spark in your belly, what I did in the beginning that really helped me was I would find something that was cooked, that I was wanting for whatever reason, and then I would just redesign it into a raw food dish or find something that kind of gave me those same sensations. I would say bring color, bring texture, bring different flavors that you like. So, I always say, take the normal thing and then put some interesting things yourself, even in raw food."

Dr. Stephen Gorad (Vegan) on Quinoa - Supergrain of the Future, Part 2 of 3

Dr. Stephen Gorad (Vegan) on Quinoa - Supergrain of the Future, Part 2 of 3

He was so impressed with this crop that the felt a calling to make quinoa a food that can be enjoyed by people everywhere and has spent over four decades on this mission. “Because as the climate changes, agricultural practices are going to change also. And quinoa has several advantages. Quinoa is drought-resistant. It’s frost-resistant, and it’s salt-tolerant. I think quinoa is a miracle. It’s a miracle food in that it’s the mother grain.” Quinoa is called a superfood for its many beneficial nutritional properties. This supergrain is high in iron, an essential mineral that makes up hemoglobin that is found in oxygen-carrying red blood cells. Quinoa is also rich in riboflavin or vitamin B2 that aids with metabolism in brain and muscle cells. “You put quinoa in a glass of water. Four hours and it starts growing. So it’s like the quinoa grain is bursting with energy to grow. That’s the energy that we’re taking into our bodies when we’re eating quinoa.”

Dr. Stephen Gorad (Vegan) on Quinoa - Supergrain of the Future, Part 1 of 3

Dr. Gorad, a vegan, attended school in the USA, starting with the Bronx High School of Science and then studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He ultimately earned a Ph.D. from Boston University and became a clinical psychologist. He did not feel fulfilled by this career path and thus decided to pursue spiritual practice. As part of his spiritual journey, he traveled to the South American Andes and found out about quinoa. “So, the bottom line is that quinoa is a food, and not only is it a food, but it’s the type of food that could be a staple food. The main thing was that quinoa has more protein than an+H5y of the other grains. So quinoa has all of the essential amino acids. So, in that respect, they call it+G5 a complete protein. But more than that is the ratio of the quantities of each of those essential amino acids. Quinoa has that perfect balance. It’s a perfect food for everybody. Quinoa has no gluten. Quinoa has antioxidant effects on the body. It has anti-inflammatory effects in the body. And some research indicated that it’s actually protective against cancer.

Acupuncturist Lisa K.Y. Wong (vegan): The Magic of Auricular Medicine, Part 2 of 3

Auricular Medicine is a scientific medical system used to diagnose and treat many different diseases using the ears. Because auricular points are specific locations connected to different areas of the body, if a part of our body has trouble, the corresponding point of the ear will reflect this. Based on this unique mechanism, many ailments can be found and cured by manipulating the corresponding acupressure points. The ear performs the exceptional function of recording the body’s physical history. This can assist Auricular Medicine practitioners in gathering past and present medical information about the client through a process called ear reading. “We read the ear and get the information about what you’ve been through, so basically getting your medical history from reading your ear. And not just what happened to you before, but also what’s happening now in your body; and because the ear has so much information, including that information, genetic information, the genetic predisposition that’s within your genes, that also can be detected in the ear.” In Auricular Medicine, the shape of the ear is said to resemble the resting human fetus. Based on this model, an Auricular Medicine practitioner can tell which points of the ear are associated with which parts of the body. Sometimes, simply pressing a specific place on the ear can eliminate a health condition’s symptoms. “And then, I find a pain in your ear that connects to that pain, and help them make that connection and through just simple massage of that part of the ear, their pain goes away.” Lisa developed the Healing By Design Method, an effective three-step process to initiate self-healing. She now demonstrates how to apply the three steps to relieve a headache.

Proper Emotion Management Makes Us Healthier

Emotions not only influence our quality of life but also affect our physical and mental health. Positive feelings like happiness and satisfaction can stimulate our creativity, and enhance our empathy, thus encouraging us to assist others. When encountering setbacks or pressure, we may have negative feelings, such as anxiety and frustration, which impact our bodies, by causing our blood pressure to rise as well as heartburn and other ailments to be experienced. The emergence of negative feelings can mean that some of our needs or sentiments are ignored. Expressing our repressed feelings allows us a chance to reflect on ourselves and remind us to examine things with a more positive attitude. We can seek support and advice to dissolve the dissatisfactions in our hearts. If we are feeling down, we can think of things that make us happy, the people that we’d like to thank, or do something we like, such as listening to music, exercising, meditating, or practicing yoga. Even just breathing a few times deeply can make us feel relaxed and pacified emotionally. “Don’t stop your anger or hurtful feeling. Just go through it and quickly, with no resentment and heal it after. Anger, hurt, pain is the natural feeling of physical elements. It’s just you don’t know how to handle anger, that is the problem. Okay? If somebody hurts you, of course you feel hurt. You are not a wooden table. And when people provoke you unreasonably, or you think that they provoke you, you are bound to be angry, and that is all right. But we must understand, the nature of anger is not very constructive most of the time. So if we have to be angry, get it over with. Don’t try to suppress too much your anger. You’ll be sick. You’ll be crazy. It’s a natural feeling. Don’t carry it too long; you’ll drown yourself in anger. It’s no good for yourself and for the party involved. Get angry, talk. You don’t have to be sarcastic or hurtful when you talk. Just air your view and tell them that they made you angry because, because, because... And you wish that in the future it doesn’t happen again because you are not... going to tolerate it again. Air your view, finish, and love each other again. That’s what I think. But we just know, the anger, the quality and the real face of anger, and we’re in control of it, and don’t let the anger be our master. Anger suppressed can make you ill physically. So don’t hurt yourself more by swallowing the poisonous anger within you. Spit it out in a proper way.”
