Global Unity: Together in Saving Lives, Part 22 of a Multi-part Series

“In fact, according to the information provided by the UN, the livestock industry accounts for about 18% of the greenhouse gas emissions, which is a figure that really surprised everyone. But it’s a fact. Therefore, we should impose more severe restrictions on the role of the livestock industry in terms of global warming, and encourage people to try their best not to further the development of the livestock industry, especially by subsidizing it. We should let both the government and taxpayers know that, and spread the information to everyone, so that they would together boycott the livestock industry for the damages it’s doing to the Earth.

(Just now, Supreme Master Ching Hai talked about Her solution to the problem. Could you please briefly tell us how you feel about Her insights?) I think what Supreme Master Ching Hai is doing is what we call ‘taking action,’ which is essentially an action plan. I feel that advocating vegetarianism and convincing everyone to join in are both very practical actions, whereby every individual can make some changes and offer some substantial contributions to halt global warming. So, I feel that She’s a person who practices what She preaches. Like what She did through the conference today, and what She said during the Q&A session, She feels that we should take the first step, and take that step bravely to make some practical improvement to the environment of the Earth. I feel what She thinks and does is really worthy for us to follow.”

“For me, after becoming vegetarian, I experienced significant changes in my body, mind and spirit. For example, I feel more peaceful, and I don’t lose my temper easily anymore. I was often sick during my childhood. Now that I got healed, it’s been a long time since I last saw a doctor. And I also urge all beauty-conscious ladies to eat vegetarian frequently for it’s great for your skin. It is a very great anti-ageing method. I hope this movement of promoting the vegetarian diet, just like what was discussed earlier, will become a trend.”

“I myself have been more inclined to vegetarianism. Therefore, after hearing the Supreme Master’s answers today, I will be more proactive in encouraging people around me and my patients to eat vegetarian, especially the cancer patients, whom I’ve advised to adopt a vegetarian diet in the first place because diseases enter through our mouth.”
