To assess animal intelligence from a human perspective is not a simple task. Animals and humans obviously communicate differently. People do not often interact with animals living in the wild, so they do not get much of a chance to observe and gain a deep understanding of animals on a daily basis. Unfortunately, this may lead some humans to assume that animals only act on instinct and do not have sophisticated cognitive abilities. However, now humans are opening a new chapter of scientific study in complex animal cognition or mental capacity with previous misperceptions being corrected.
