Today’s show will look more deeply into the misinformation and assumptions around abortion.

The first assumption is that abortions are not painful to the fetus. Some doctors like to claim that unborn babies can’t feel pain until after the 24th week, while others claim it’s at 12 weeks (three months) of pregnancy. Yet sonographers see the reactions of unborn babies in the womb who are attacked with abortion instruments. These tiny humans react in ways that can only be described as fear and self-protection. The following is an account from a healthcare worker who was told to take an ultrasound to the ER though not told why. The baby was in her second trimester within the womb:

“Stunned, I watched the doctor thrust a catheter into the amniotic sac. The fetus dodged the catheter and tried to hide in the top of her mother’s uterus to get away. In horror, I watched as he inserted a forceps clamp and grabbed her tiny leg. She writhed around in pain trying to break free, but there was nowhere for her to go. Then the doctor pulled hard until her leg ripped away from her body. She recoiled and violently twisted around in pain and curled herself into a tight ball. But it was no use. […]” Other abortion witnesses have reported the same behavior from the defenseless babies in the womb.

A common assumption and piece of misinformation that’s consistently spread is that abortion is safe. Ms. Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood abortion clinic director has spoken out against this lie. “For an abortion to be deemed successful, an individual and unique human being with a beating heart must die. That can never be safe for that individual human life.” “There is never a time where the abortion doctor goes in, sits down with the woman and goes over risks, alternatives to abortion. It does not happen. The doctor starts performing the abortion.”

Many women, and even men, have spoken out about the heartbreaking toll that having an abortion has had on their lives. “I realized that this life of pretense was something that I could not keep up for the rest of my life. Some women go into meltdown immediately after an abortion procedure and others can keep things buttoned down for a long time and I was one of those.” “We hear that this is the woman’s body, this is her choice, I’m sort of a by-stander, sort of a second thought in this whole thing, it shouldn’t bother me as much as maybe it would bother her. And wow that could not be further from the truth. That is such a lie. I mean the instant shame, the instant guilt, the instant depression, devastation, all of it – all of that was there and it’s still there. There honestly isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wish that that could be different. That I could have this child as part of my life. We could be hanging out and connected and doing life together. This may seem like a simple choice and someone’s telling you that this won’t bother you and it will be ok and you will get over it. You won’t.”
