Her charming personality and the humorous, loving posts about her daily antics quickly gained a large following. They started a Facebook page dedicated to Esther, the Wonder Pig-Person, to share their experiences. The page gained 100,000 followers in just 80 days. The creation of estherthewonderpig.com soon followed, and since its inception, the site has amassed over 580,000 followers. The website focuses on the “wonderful” nature of their animal companion and has become a highly effective tool in engaging with non-vegans, helping them make the transition to the life-saving vegan lifestyle also. As Esther’s international fame grew by the day, so did her body, now approaching 227 kilograms, almost a meter tall, and approximately two meters long. It was difficult to conceal her on Steve and Derek’s suburban block, where it was technically illegal to house a “commercial” pig-person. Thankfully, through crowdfunding, Esther’s fathers raised enough money in just a few months to buy a 50-acre (0.2-square kilometer) property in Campbellville, Ontario, in 2014. They named their new home the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary. Esther was safe and completely content in her new environment. She had come into the men’s world, turning them, gladly, into full time animal-people right activists, both now fully aware of the plight of so many millions of animal-individuals who had not been helped. “While Esther was swimming in her pool or playing with the dogs, or taking a nap in the house, her litter-mates were locked in dark barns, on concrete floors, without access to the outdoors, sunshine, or anything to do; they would have been taken away at about eight months of age for ‘processing.’”Esther’s fame continued to spread, becoming the subject of several books, including “Esther the Wonder Pig: Changing the World One Heart at a Time” and a children’s book called “The True Adventures of Esther the Wonder Pig,” all of which contributed greatly to an awareness of the truly loving nature of animal-people worldwide. The Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary would grow over the years to become home for 30 pig-people, two cow-individuals, more than 20 bird-folks, and other delightful animal friends. They also became favorite online stars, like Esther’s best buddy, Cornelius the turkey-person. For more information on Esther the Wonder Pig-Person (vegan), please visit: estherthewonderpig.com
