Q (m): And again, I’d also like to thank the EarthSave organization and the Orange County Vegetarian Network for the fantastic work they’ve done on educating people about vegetarianism (veganism) and its importance.

I’m a doctor of natural healthcare, also a chiropractor and a kinesiologist. I wanted to talk a little bit about first of all, the obvious reasons why we’re vegetarians (vegans), or why many of us are vegetarians (vegans).

Genetically – some of this, we know – genetically, when we look at our bodies, we can see that we’re designed to be what we call herbivores. Herbivores are primarily plant-eaters. Carnivores are primarily (animal-people) meat-eaters. Herbivores – our transit time when we eat vegetables is usually about one to two days versus three to four days for (animal-people) meat. When (animal-people) meat has a lot of time, like three or four days of transit, it gets stuck, and it starts to slow down, and we have things called diverticula and pockets are formed where this (animal-people meat) again decomposes.

Other places we see the importance of vegetarianism (veganism) is in how it affects not just our health but also animals. We see it also in many other different places.

Another thing I’d like to say is about what I see mostly in my clinic, when we talk about vegetarianism and its style, is the incredible capabilities and healing powers of the body. And how our body uses the nutrients and the aliveness of all the foods, of natural foods, such as sprouts, grains, seeds, nuts and vegetables, to pretty much gain and draw energy to heal itself. When you look at an average patient, a patient that I would see in my office, and we have charted (animal-people) meat-eaters versus vegetarians, we see that for similar conditions, the time of recovery is cut down by almost 2/3.

MC: Master Ching Hai has arrived. (Hallo, Master.)

Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan): I don’t think I like the program. No lunch (for me) and yet immediately talk. Do you think it’s fair? I was supposed to come for lunch. And then immediately, they led me here, and they said no (vegan) food. Immediately talk. I don’t know if any stuff goes out when nothing comes in. I don’t like this program. No (vegan) food? No (vegan) food, no talk. (Eat. Eat.) Eat flowers? Fruits? (Apples.) Apples? I never eat apples, maybe once a year, to keep the doctor away. OK. So, no (vegan) food. Alright. I’ll bear with it. It’s too early anyhow. I just woke up.

How’s everyone? (Great!) Was the (vegan) food OK? (Yes) Don’t tell me. Why are you laughing? What does that mean? No (vegan) food or what? (We had [vegan] food.) You had (vegan) food? (Really good. Yes. It was very good.) Very good? Then why do you laugh? (Because You’re still talking about (vegan) food.) Yeah, of course, when you have nothing else in mind. I came all the way from home, and I expected (vegan) food. So, I meditated on (vegan) food. What else do you want me to talk about?

I mean, isn’t that the most important issue in the world? Because of food, we start war, then we make peace, and then we start a war again – all because of food. What else do you think? And because of (vegan) food, I am here, just to tell you not to eat too much. Try to put some more spiritual food inside your spiritual body. We start with food, and we will end it with food. Don’t worry.

Actually, I’m just joking with you, I’m not hungry. Still talking about food. Just in a different way, and more clever, that’s all.

Hi. So, what would you like to hear? Anything special? On request. (Meditation.) Meditation? OK. (Inner peace.) Inner peace. Well, if you have one, then you have the other. If you meditate, then you will have inner peace.

Nobody knows how to meditate? Yeah? You do. Everybody does. You meditate every day on different things. Some meditate on money. Some on food. Some on boyfriends, some on girlfriends, some on business. Some on children, wives, husbands, and textbooks. And sometimes on fame, position, power. Then, occasionally on God, when business doesn’t go well. When other meditations fail, then we might meditate on God for a while. So, do not tell me that you don’t know about meditation.

I just will have to tell you about a different kind of meditation, by which and with which we will overcome most of the difficulties in this life. And then we do not need to meditate on too many techniques or too many subjects. Instead, we meditate on one only, and we get many things or other things.

Just like in the Bible, it’s stated that, “Seek you first the Kingdom of God and all the things shall be added unto you.” Now, you probably think, “Well, here She comes again with the Bible in one hand, and talking on the other side.” I will not talk about the Bible – just once in a while. Just to let you know that I know about the Bible. You feel familiar with the Bible, yeah? More familiar with the Bible than with other scriptures. Otherwise, I am also familiar with many other kinds of religious texts.

Now, it’s not that we have to sit there and think about God all the time. It’s just that we have to merge in God and become one with God, that we are always in God-consciousness. That is what is meant by the Kingdom of God.

If you go to the church once in a while, on Sundays, it’s also a kind of trying to seek the Kingdom of God, but probably in a not very fruitful way. Because (Lord) Jesus said to us that the Kingdom of God comes not through observation, but the Kingdom of God is within us. If it is so, then what shall we do? Still, we must meditate. Even though it is said that the Kingdom of God comes not through observation, meaning not through meditation, even. He meant observation – when you observe something, it means you really pay attention to that subject. Is that not so? The English meaning? (Yes.)

So, that also means meditation, contemplation. But even then, that doesn’t give us the Kingdom of God. It just makes us more aware of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God isn’t made of meditation, by meditation, with meditation, or through meditation. But by doing meditation, we become aware of our Kingdom of God, which is already existing. So that is the wisdom of old. But nevertheless, even then, in the other part of the Bible it is also said, “When you pray to your Father, enter into your secret chamber or the closet, and pray in secret; and then your Father, who sees you pray in secret, will reward you openly.”
