In our bee family, we share what we are good at with one another, because it feels great when we give and receive. We may be tiny compared to the rest of the animal kingdom, but we surely have a big job to do: pollination. We pollinate the flowers of crops and fruit trees so they can bear fruit. Without us, there wouldn’t be any fruits and seeds, the plants wouldn’t be able to reproduce, animals wouldn’t have any food, and many people would go hungry. Because of this decline, harvests have been smaller in recent years, meaning less food for both animals and humans. The good news is that there are ways to help bolster the population of bees. For example, you can grow a garden that’s bee-friendly, right in your own backyard. Plant-based foods are the healthiest for the human body. Best of all, fruit and vegetables have seeds, and each seed can grow into a whole new plant if given the chance. You can share or swap extra seeds with friends and neighbors and enjoy the fruit of one another’s labor later on.
