Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Erin’s Farm – Forever Loving Home for Animal-people

Today, we journey to the United States to meet the kind-hearted Erin Yanz, who is the founder and manager of Erin’s Farm, a non-profit animal-people sanctuary based in Hobart, Indiana. In 2017, Erin founded the 33-acre facility, which was converted from a former slaughterhouse and now houses approximately 250 animal-person friends, including people from the horse, pig, donkey, goat, chicken, and duck kingdoms.

Erin shared with us what she and her devoted staff and volunteers have been working on to bring lovely friends of the animal-kingdoms closer to families, especially to the kids. She kindly explained about her emphasis placed on education with programs that help people to become more compassionate and respectful towards nature and our precious animal-people co-inhabitants. “It's not just meeting an animal in the classroom like we used to, it's like coming and seeing them in their natural environment and seeing those animals interact with family members and other species. And they're learning so much just putting the phones down and stepping into nature, and then into where they live, and seeing how they live.”
