For more than 20 years, We Animals has been dedicated to bringing into focus the animals in our human world. Now, in this historical time for animal advocacy, animal stories are no longer relegated to the sidelines. Instead, they are emerging as the lens through which to view some of the most pressing issues of our time. Never has it been more critical to tell their stories. “And never have we been able to do more to meet this challenge than in 2019. This year, We Animals became We Animals Media, a trailblazing multimedia agency dedicated to elevating animal photography and filmmaking. Our small but growing team has published in-depth features on the most important animal stories of our time, and has partnered with activists and media to bring these stories to a wider audience. What my work attempts to do is to reduce the amount of suffering worldwide by getting us to stop eating animals and reduce the number of animals suffering out there in the world. If you’re a supporter of We Animals Media, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. If you’re not, we would love to have you on board. The visibility of animal stories is one crucial piece of the puzzle when it comes to long-term achievements for animals, compassion, and justice. Together, we can continue to bring the stories of animals out of the shadows and into the spotlight.” To close our program, Jo-Anne McArthur shared a final message. “We can all use our own skills, whatever they may be, to make the world a better place. So, whether you’re interested in law, or policy, or art, if that’s your skill and if that’s what you love doing, employ that to help people, help animals, help the environment, because everything really is an emergency right now. And so we all need to be participating.” Thank you so much Jo-Anne McArthur, for graciously taking time out to be on our program, for all your noble work, and for inspiring so many people to become protectors and advocates for our much-loved animal friends. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Applaud and present Jo-Anne McArthur with the Shining World Compassionate Photographer Award with a loving contribution of US$10,000 as a supportive gift for her noble work, in God's immense Love.”
