The government of Japan has donated US$10 million to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to provide life-saving aid, including wheat flour and vegetable oil, to 2.5 million people facing acute food insecurity. Yemen is experiencing a severe humanitarian and economic crisis due to ongoing conflict, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, and resulting in millions of people being unable to afford food. With Japan’s timely contribution, WFP has increased funding in the country and will rapidly deliver essentials to help save millions from starvation. Researchers study the heart of the young universe using a galaxy.
An international team of astronomers used a powerful telescope, a new measuring technique, and a galaxy whose special “stretched” appearance acts like a giant magnifying glass, to get the first clear view of enormous clouds of gas known as Damped Lyman-alpha systems (DLAs). Historically found to be very challenging to observe, these DLAs are believed to have fueled the formation of galaxies composed of stars and gases shortly after the Big Bang. With the newly developed technique, plus the galaxy whose gravitationally magnified light made it easy to read, the researchers could map out the gas in two DLAs and thus better understand the workings of the universe. Grabbing or accidentally squeezing them can result in severe stress and injury, or even death as we feathered beings have fragile skeletons and respiratory systems. Teach your bird-person by first rewarding them for coming near your hand. When they begin to step onto your hand, say, “Step up” or “Up.” Be consistent, stick to one phrase, and say it every time your bird-person steps up. Italian boy amazes audience with his Mozart recital.
Five-year-old Alberto Cartuccia Cingolani started playing the piano at age three while staying home during the COVID lockdown. In just two years, young Alberto quickly became an excellent pianist. He has entered eight competitions and won first place in all of them. At the 10th International Musical Competition in the Italian town of Penne, audience members onsite, and later millions of people online, were mesmerized by his impressive performance of one of Mozart’s piano sonatas. His ability to learn and play so expertly at his age is truly remarkable, as he does not read music notes and instead relies on his perfect pitch, which is the ability to identify and recreate any musical note. Israel and United Arab Emirates sign historic free trade agreement.
Israel signed its first trade pact with an Arab country, the UAE, to boost bilateral trade. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement will eliminate or reduce trade tariffs on 96% of merchandise between the countries and increase bilateral trade to over US$10 billion annually. The lower taxes will impact food, medicine, and other goods, while encouraging more Israeli companies to expand to the UAE. The two nations established relations in 2020 through the mediation of US President His Excellency Donald Trump, a laureate of the Shining World Peace Leader Award and Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion. British charity gives books and more to Ukrainian children.
A non-profit called Bookmark Reading has been delivering “Bookmark Boxes for Ukraine,” with reading materials for Ukrainian child refugees aged from five to nine. The thoughtful packages that the charity put together, contain books in both the Ukrainian and English languages, as well as a tablet with ebooks and language apps, a SIM card to call family and friends, a stationary set, and more. The organization plans to raise £1 million so they can provide 5,000 refugee children with the kit. Research has found that children who read in their spare time show better mental health than their peers. Plant-based vegan meat lunch boxes launched in China’s convenience stores.
United States-headquartered vegan company Beyond Meat has partnered with Chinese convenience store chain Lawson to sell two kinds of plant-based lunch boxes in over 2,300 outlets. The stores are all around eastern China, in cities such as Shanghai. One of the lunch boxes contains a rice and vegetable dish with vegan Beyond Beef, and the other spaghetti with vegan Beyond Pork, which has been specially created for the Chinese market. This all-plant pork contains half the amount of fat as its animal-people counterpart. Beyond Meat has a state-of-the-art production factory in China and a direct-to-consumer e-commerce site. In addition, the company has announced plans to provide vegan meat alternatives at Starbucks China and KFC. The universe must surely guide loving businesses such as yours, Beyond Meat. Sweet reunion filmed of mother and sloth baby.
The staff at the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica found a three-fingered sloth cub alone and crying near the beach. Mom had somehow separated from her baby and was continuing upwards into the tree canopy above. A kind-hearted staff member from the rescue center in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca spotted the crying youngster on the ground, who was then taken for an emergency vet check and found to have no injuries. The rescuers recorded the baby’s cries, amplified the sound, and played it back to draw mom down from the tree top. This method, first used by the rescue group a few years ago, proved successful for reuniting sloth mothers with their infants. They filmed the tender reunion where the mother sloth embraced her baby back into her arms. What a heart-meltingly wonderful scene! Thank you, gracious staff at the Jaguar Rescue Center.
