Because clairvoyant doesn't mean liberated. Because we, as humans or even animals, even stones, we all have a lot of power. Magical power, we call that. Because we are born with all kinds of heavenly qualities. It's a pity we forget. We eat too much—all kinds of things; we lost many things. I think in the future, the law or the governments have to make the law to protect rare species, like Masters. Not just protect the flowers and animals, protect rare species, rare beings like enlightened Masters. (Yes Master.) We, our planet, our world would have been much better, more advanced, more civilized, peaceful, a long time ago, if we had learned to protect great Masters that came to our planet to help us unconditionally. We did not. That's why it took so long. And now we begin to get better. Even if They died early, died young or died very painfully, but They still helped us. They didn't forsake us. Lucky for us. And other Masters came, like different bricks, keep building, building into a beautiful mansion, each of Them bringing with Them some blessings. And slowly, we advanced, until today. Never forget. Never forget to thank Them. OK? (Yes Master.)

Good that you've learned this type of kung fu. You also need to do some push-ups to strengthen your muscles. Not just learning in the morning, but start at home, training, so that your reaction will be automatic. A long time ago, there was a man who came and asked a very famous teacher to teach him the sword art. Daytime, he made him work, so that he trained his muscles. Because he also trained common sense. So, nighttime, when he's least expected, the master always sneaked into his room and brandished the sword at him, so he never could sleep. That's the way he trained. You always have to be alert. It's not just in training only, but always quick reaction. The same with meditation, we must also do it regularly. Then when a situation comes, it's just automatically our energy is there, our power is there to protect us; not physical, but similar to that. Similar with kung fu physical reaction, there's a spiritual reaction inside. It's very good to exercise. Not for fighting, but it's good. Because we have some pent-up energy inside. So, if sometimes you wear socks for too long, it's also not good. Because the used energy has to be discarded through the feet.

I wish I had more time to study kung fu more, or practice. But because I studied Buddhism since I was young, I thought I should not have a penchant for violence. But you should be able to also defend yourself. It would be good. I think all Indian girls should learn kung fu. The best thing in kung fu that they always teach you is not to be too overconfident. If you can punch the guy down or swipe him down a little bit, then run. Don’t stay there and say, “Ah ha! Photograph?” Because he might get up and get angry. And the feeling of being cornered and being pushed down, that will make him strong. You’d better run. I don’t like sissy women. I like women to be strong. If not equal to men, at least better than other women. Be strong, be confident. You can kick as good as you write. I love this kind of woman. Make me proud. In Âu Lạc (Vietnam), we say “he excels in both literature and martial arts.” It means you can write; you are also good at literature, as well as kung fu, at martial arts. Pretty cool.

I saw your kung fu today. It’s fantastic! I looked at it again. I like it very much, especially the cat with the vegan peace. She kicks so high! Even green fingernails. You guys are good. When I wrote the script, I didn’t imagine it’s that good. It’s better than I imagined. I didn’t know if we had any kung fu, in our group. But then you surprised me. Very good. It’s real… I like the carrot kick. I like the pineapple punch. That reminds me of when I was younger, when I studied kung fu. I studied, in Aulacese (Vietnamese) we call it “Meihua Quan.” And then, I studied like tiger stance… Don’t think that we are only girls here. We have punch power. We have watermelon punch, carrot kick, veg burger chop. We can chop with our teeth. Don’t mess with my girl. Learn some. It’s good exercise and discipline. Get up early in the morning, kick a few, and then go sit still. Combine actions and stillness. That will be good for you.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: The Embodiment of Love, Part 5 of 5, July 20, 2019

If the children or the people are healthy, billions of dollars can be saved for the country. Because for any country, sickness and health insurance cost a lot of money. All because of eating meat, eating fish, drinking alcohol, smoking and drugs. It causes great harm to the nation’s treasury. The money can be saved to help the poor and to also help other countries; animals and citizens of other countries. “I’m so grateful. The physical medicine has to go with prayers to God. We cannot look down on physical science.” Yeah, yeah. I’ve met Indian doctors occasionally. Some of them have spiritual beliefs. They all have a sign in their clinics saying, “I prescribe, but You heal.” They said that it’s God who heals and they only prescribe. The patient has to take medicine. However, there's blessings from Heaven too. It takes Heaven and Earth to work together. Of course, when it’s urgent and there’s no other way, when you have no time and no physical means, Heaven will try to help.

“Knowing that the serpent had become harmless, throngs of people started arriving from nearby villages. They worshipped the serpent-god. They worshipped him by offering milk and sweets. But the serpent was lying still, keeping its hood in the hole, in meditation without even a trace of movement. Swarms of ants were attracted by the sweets. They stared stinging the serpent. But the serpent tolerated these afflictions with equanimity. It silently took the last vow. The snake’s body became almost perforated, but it did not react at all. After 15 days, the snake died and was reborn as a god in the Sahasrar dimension.” Wow! Sitting next to an enlightened Saint, borrowed also His blessing. But it’s not only the Saint can bless you, you also must be good. The serpent had become good and purified himself by his sincere repentance and endurance of the suffering to repay all the karma that he made, the bad karma. So, he was reborn as a god.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: The Embodiment of Love, Part 3 of 5, July 20, 2019

"Involved in His spiritual pursuits, Mahavira uttered in His deep and tranquil voice, 'Open your inner eyes. Be calm and remember your past life... Do not inject venom of anger in your life. Rise above the deadly poison of anger.'" And then, "Mahavira opened His ambrosia-filled eyes." So, "When the serpent met His gaze, it felt as if a wave of peace and tranquility had engulfed its inner Self." "Incidents from its past two births surfaced in its memory." "Its spirit embraced enlightenment and its mind became tranquil. It touched the pious feet of Lord Mahavira Swami and resolved, 'O Lord! Now I will not look at any one at all throughout my life. I will not eat anything. I will now at once for all my sins committed during the last three births and improve my future.'" See, affect the being inside not the outside. Therefore, we don't use the physical eyes; we don't use the physical ears; we don't use any physical means to meditate. Everything from inside is the real thing, the best, and permanent, lasting. Be always prepared and really have belief in God or faith in your Master, or your path, or your practice, and all the things that are good.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: The Embodiment of Love, Part 2 of 5, July 20, 2019

In many cases of the very important enlightened Beings, when They're meditating, even though They're still not yet on a higher level, all the heavenly beings, many, they will take turns to come and take care of Him, in case of some very serious problems. But they cannot interfere without the permission of that enlightened being, whether or not He has already become Buddha or not. Therefore, they are invisible. My hufa, my protectors are also like that. So, He started His meditation, our Lord Mahavira. "The black giant serpent came out of its hole hissing fiercely... The man was standing firm and fearless with closed eyes." "The serpent was very surprised." "It looked at Mahavira with its venomous eyes." Now, "Like flames from a ball of fire, its poisonous eyes emitted waves of venom. But all this had no effect whatsoever on Mahavira." So, the snake "slithered from the line of the expected fall of the body and then with all its force sank its fangs in Mahavira's toe and injected all its venom... All its three attacks were wasted." So, "Mahavira stood undisturbed" "His face was glowing and on His lips was a charming smile." "His eyes reflected the inner compassion. The serpent continued to stare with surprise. Confused by its failure, it was lost in its thoughts."

If you have dogs, it's easier to be a renunciate. Your clothes will be less than before. Your table, don't need; books, no need, you're already enlightened. Very simple life. All the complications come to Master, that's the best. We live a simple life, correct? (Yes.) Now, this story entitled, "The Embodiment of Love." So, the Master, the Lord Mahavira, at that time an ascetic, "proceeded in the direction of Shvetambika town." "The trail to this town passed through a dense and desolate forest." So, "When some shepherds saw Mahavira entering the forest, they shouted, very loud, 'O Monk, Monk, Monk, stay put for a minute. This is a very dangerous trail. There is a black serpent with venomous gaze on this trail. His hissing and gaze burn plant and trees.'" But, "Mahavira heard this fear-filled call of the shepherds. And with a serene smile, He raised a hand as a gesture of assurance." And then, "He went with firm steps towards the snake-hole." "There was not a single green leaf as far as the eyes could see." "Close to the snake-hole was a dilapidated temple. Mahavira stood in the shade of this temple and started His standing mediation."

Buddhist Stories: Pathika the Naked Ascetic, Part 4 of 4, Sep. 19, 2015

I meditate in winter, summer, outside. I never have one cold, not even a runny nose or a sneeze, or maybe now and then, but because of dog hair. But I never get a cold. But every time at a retreat, in the middle of it, or just slightly after a few weeks, I’d have a cold or cough. But this is common. In India it’s very common for any guru to have a lot of coughing. And then they have to take medicine also. And then something else comes and then, and then, and then… I will get stronger now, to withstand all this onslaught of (bad) karma. “My first time to see You. After 11 years. The first time I’ve seen You in person, Master, physically. And before initiation, I also see You come to show me how to concentrate on the forehead. You also use the thumb to show me. At that time, I’m not initiated yet, and I don’t know what happened, until I got initiation, then I know, and I know, OK, what that means.”

Buddhist Stories: Pathika the Naked Ascetic, Part 3 of 4, Sep. 19, 2015

“Very early in the morning, (Buddha)took a bowl and robe and went straight to the house of the great female lay disciple. When the Teacher had finished His meal, the Teacher, with His own sweet voice, began the address of rejoicing. The lay disciple listened to the teaching of the Dharma and applauded the Teacher… Unable to control himself, he remarked, ‘She is my disciple no longer!’ And the naked ascetic reviled both the female lay disciple and the Teacher in all manner of ways, and then ran off.” “The lay disciple was so embarrassed by the naked ascetic’s insulting words. So the Teacher said, ‘One should not consider the talk of such a contrary person; one should pay no attention to such as he; one should regard only what one has committed and omitted to do.’ ‘Not the faults of others, nor what they did and did not. But in oneself should be sought things done and left undone.’” I’m also pleased to see you and can be of some service, and remind you of the good ways to practice. But I’m more pleased if you put them into practice. The ancient wisdom, you read, you heard about it, but you must practice.

So outside practice is not always ideal. You have to renounce inside, truly renounce. You have or not have, it is the same to you, then it is really renunciation. This woman, out of purity and love for goodness and pureness of monkhood, she gave offering and took care of him. And then he became like a husband, like outside, like a normal husband, became jealous, controlling. So luckily this woman, she’s very, very intelligent. She wants to invite the Buddha to her house. Well, let’s see if this monk reacts or anything. “She summoned her own son and sent him to the Teacher, meaning the Buddha. The boy started out, but went first to the place of residence of the naked ascetic. ‘By my mother’s direction, I’m going to invite the Buddha.’ ‘Do not go to him!’ ‘No, my mother will scold me.’ ‘Well then, go. But when you go and invite the Buddha, do not say to him, our house is situated in such and such a place. Instead, act as if you lived nearby, and when you leave, run off as if you intended to take a different road, and come back here.’ The boy listened.”

Today, I’ll read you a story. “Thus I have heard, the wife of a certain householder, ministered to the needs of a naked ascetic, named Pathika, treating him as she would her own son. Of her nearest neighbors, those who went to hear the Buddha teach the Dharma returned praising the virtues of the Buddhas in manifold ways. She desired to go to the monastery and hear the Dharma herself.” That’s in India, 2,500 years ago. Don’t copy. I will not be responsible for anything that happens to you, if you copy this Naga monk. Naga means naked. How simple life can be if we don’t have to need so many things. The less we need, the less we are slaves to this material world which is really kind of binding us very, very, very tightly. “‘Noble Sir, I desire to go and hear the Buddha.’ But as often as she made her request, the naked ascetic dissuaded her from going. The woman thought to herself, ‘Since this naked ascetic will not permit me to go to the monastery and hear the Dharma, I will invite the Teacher to my own house and hear the Dharma right here.’”

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Always Concentrate Inside, Part 5 of 5, July 7, 2019

So now, just like every other yogi, or monk, renunciate, the Master Mahavira... He went to another village called Kalambuka. Two brothers, Megh and Kalahasti, ruled this village, the chiefs of the village, the two brothers. They saw the two, Master Mahavira and His companion, come to their village. They suspected that they were thieves or some bad robbers or something. "Tying them with ropes." Oh, this is the younger brother, tied them both up and beat them up to get information, to get them to confess. "They were produced before Megh," the elder brother, "who felt as if he was looking at a known face." So, "He suddenly recalled that once he had seen Prince Vardhaman at the court of King Siddhartha." So, "He fell at the feet of Mahavira and, with tears of repentance in his eyes, he begged to be forgiven." "When released, Mahavira resumed His journey." I wanted to cry myself. Oh humans. My God, when will they ever wake up? Even when I went outside doing lectures for the public, I thought, "Oh, of course, they understand everything." But no, it's not true. Otherwise, the whole world would have woken up by now, would have followed me, my teaching by now. And we would have no more wars, even individual wars, even killing of animals, any problems of any kind.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Always Concentrate Inside, Part 4 of 5, July 7, 2019

In the deeper Himalayas, Rishikesh area, that's the famous place for pilgrims also. Many yogis went there, many Master went there to meditate in the old times until now. So, people believer that it is a very auspicious spiritual region. I felt very happy there, very, very happy. Just as every other yogi, Master Mahavira left and went to another village. It's also good like that because otherwise, if He kept staying there and eating from the same people all the time, maybe they couldn't afford to keep feeding Him. Also, to sow more affinity with different people. That's a tradition of monks. Enlightenment is a higher level of consciousness. Intellect is just a common element of the mind, of the brain, so that you can learn things in the world. It doesn't help you to be enlightened, but it could, it could. If you use the intellect to understand the teachings of the Master, then you will have no doubt. You will be more diligent in your spiritual practice and also be enlightened easier, and that's also possible like that. But intellect alone will not give you enlightenment. No matter how much knowledge you amass in this world, it helps you nothing. It just crowds your brain more and makes you more confused, more maybe arrogant, and more ignorant in spiritual matters, I mean, in the spiritual domain.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Always Concentrate Inside, Part 3 of 5, July 7, 2019

Better times were in India when I had not much at all. I saw nothing but wanted to see God. I heard nothing, just wanted to hear God's voice. I was completely blind, deaf, and dumb to the world. That's why I dared to go alone into the Himalayas. Even after somewhat enlightenment, I went around, just went around. And then some people looked at my hand and said I'd become a Buddha in the future soon, soon. For my ideas at that time, you can imagine how I believed such a thing. Because I was told that after initiation into the Guan Yin Method, nobody can read your destiny anymore because you're free, free, the moment of initiation. And whatever makes trouble afterwards, it's just your mind, your mind. Your soul is free. OK, now. We have another problem coming for Lord Mahavira. It's a torture by Kalahasti, another enemy somewhere. Now the Lord Mahavira has left the Chorak village. He went to the outskirts of Kalambuka village, another nearby village. Why does He keep going from one place to another? Anybody know? “He is not supposed to cling to any situation because that environment would drag Him down.” That's right.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Always Concentrate Inside, Part 2 of 5, July 7, 2019

Now, let’s go back to India to Lord Mahavira. “He sat under the tree and started His night meditation. Some wayfarers also stopped under this tree. They collected dry wood and started a fire to cook food. Early in the morning they broke camp and went away. The fire was left burning. The wind was blowing in the direction of meditating Mahavira. The fire slowly spread and reached the spot where Mahavira was standing. Gaushalak shouted a warning. But Mahavira had no awareness besides that for His own soul. He was unmoved by the heat of the approaching flames. He was busy quashing the ultimate fire within Himself.” Our greed, anger, and ignorance’s fire inside. He was busy destroying this kind of flame, so He did not hear. He did not hear His friend shouting about the flame outside. He did not feel the heat of the flame outside. “The flame reached Him and scorched His feet. Even this acute pain did not reach the depth of His tranquility. After some time, the fire subsided on its own.”

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Always Concentrate Inside, Part 1 of 5, July 7, 2019

Let’s read the story of Master Mahavira. And this is another one called “Quashing of the Flames.” “Once, leaving Shravasti, Shraman Vardhaman was going to Haliddug village. On the way he saw a large banyan tree.” Whenever any Master is reborn, Their destiny changes according to the period of human history. They don’t always do the same thing. Somewhere, a long time ago, I read one magazine in America. And they said, “Jesus, He had predicated, He said He will, ‘Come back as a woman and they will not recognize me.’” That’s what He said. Like Quan Yin Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara, She reincarnates time after time, life after life. But sometimes She was a wife, just a normal wife, and sometimes, She was somebody else. And in Buddha’s time, She was just a Bodhisattva, no wife, no husband, no children, nothing. You remember one of the stories about Quan Yin Bodhisattva? She was married to a man…

The Life of Lord Mahavira: The Afflictions and Rejection of the Divine Help, Part 4 of 4, June 30, 2019

There’s another one. This one is a story about the affliction by Shulpani. “Wandering, Mahavira one day, arrived near a small forlorn village on the banks of river Vegvati. The villagers informed Him that the ferocious lance-wielding demon, named Shulpani Yaksha…” He was just standing there, meditating. “A mad elephant appeared…Next appeared a black serpent. He caused extreme pain in the seven delicate spots within Mahavira’s body. Even this extreme agony failed to pierce the serenity of His composure. Drained of all his demonic energy.” “All of a sudden, a divine spiritual Light illuminated his inner Self. Then, the demon was utterly humble and with great humility. Begged Mahavira’s pardon. ‘Shulpani! Anger supplements anger and love begets love. If you do not cause fear, you will become free of all fears always. So, destroy the poison of your anger.’ Mahavira spent His first monsoon-stay at the Asthik-gram.” I don't know if anyone could undergo such asceticism and sacrifice like Lord Mahavira did. This is not the end yet.

“The cowherd continued beating Him. And Mahavira just bore it all and did not move. ‘Stop it, you ignorant idiot! You are committing a grave crime. This person is no thief. He is the son of King Siddhartha. He is Shraman Mahavira, a great yogi and a meditating ascetic.’ The cowherd fell prostrate at the feet of Mahavira and, begged His Pardon. The divine being who had interfered was none else but the king of gods, Indra.” I think they made a mistake here, right? So, Indra is not a king of gods. Could be that he is also king of all the rain gods. “Disturbed by the inflamed marks on the body of Mahavira, he said, ‘Please allow me to be in Your attendance to provide You protection. ’Mahavira replied in all humility, ‘You should know that an ascetic on the spiritual path reaches the goal of purity with the help of his own practice, courage, and discipline. It is never with the help of the king of gods or the king of demons that a soul sheds all its karmas and becomes an Arhat or gets liberated.’ Full of reverence and praise, the king of gods…”
