The Shining World Award pays tribute to Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc from Bình Chánh, Âu Lạc (also known as Vietnam), for the attentive, benevolent care she has been providing to more than a hundred homeless dog- and cat-people with disabilities during the past 7 years. She also lovingly crafts, with her own hands, 70 to 80 wheelchairs every month in order to enhance the health and mobility of these disabled furry friends.“I’ve loved the animal-people since I was a little child. Growing up, going outdoors and seeing them being abandoned, beaten, or hit by cars and motorcycles, and become disabled, I would love them even more. The handicapped, I love them more than the normal ones.” “What made me the happiest was rescuing a dog-person with all 4 legs disabled. I used physical therapy, and for the first time, the dog-person kid was able to stand on his/her 4 feet without a wheelchair, I shed tears of happiness!
