Diet has always been considered a secret element to elite sports performance. In 2019, that secret was let out of the bag with the documentary “The Game Changers,” which showcased the 100% plant-based diet as the best choice of nutrition and lifestyle for elite athletes to stay at the top of their game, all the while expressing an ethical and loving relationship to the natural world around them.

Across every type of sporting endeavor from endurance to sprints, and from power to poise, the plant-based diet is winning more hearts, and more competitions than ever before. Former professional dancer and veganism advocate, Ms. Belsen Mata is the founder of Vegan Power Athlete, an organization that has quickly grown in both strength and reach since its inception. “This group was born after I had met several athletes in the country, knowing their philosophy of veganism, rights, and from there I began to summon them, to see if they were interested in sharing the message with other people or athletes, for them to have a plant-based diet, free of animal exploitation.” “Whether you are an elite, high performance athlete or you are starting to do physical activity, you will feel even more positive changes in your body.”

Esteban Ramirez is a member of the Vegan Power Athlete group in Costa Rica. Mr. Ramirez represented the Costa Rican National Weightlifting team for seven years. “I also compete in fitness and practiced swimming. I have competed as a vegan for a long time, I had excellent results. until I retired for study. I introduced myself to veganism, and have been completely vegan about six years.”

The science is clear, that the plant-based diet is a performance-based diet for the human biological machine. Vegan Power Athlete member and personal trainer, José Ricardo has also experienced the same incredible recovery and mental clarity on a 100% plant-based diet. “Yes, in my workouts I feel super good, talking about recovery. In fact, I once injured myself by accident and my recovery was incredibly fast.” “When they lower or leave behind animal protein completely, they feel they have more energy, more mental clarity. They feel they can give more during the workout, so I highly recommend it.”
