Today, we feature the first portion of our interview with Lisa K.Y. Wong, a vegan licensed acupuncturist and Auricular Medicine specialist in California, USA. Ms. Wong will graciously guide us to better understand the ear and our body’s powerful self-healing system through the viewpoint of Auricular Medicine. “It is a complete, comprehensive medical modality, where we use the ear to do diagnosis and treatment of all the conditions in the body, up to 200 diseases, and 500 symptoms. Many of the symptoms that most people don’t even know about until much later. Ms. Wong is the founder of the Center for Healing by Design, a non-profit organization established in 2015 to help people get in touch with their doctor within. Lisa developed the Healing By Design Method, an easy 3-step process that uses the body’s built-in tools for self-healing and accelerating repair and recovery. The organization’s vision is to engage, educate and empower people worldwide with effective self-care skills to prevent and overcome health challenges in their lives. To convey her passion for spreading this easy and effective self-care method globally, Lisa scaled the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, in July 2015 for her initiative called “Climb Every Mountain Self-Care Movement.” The project’s vision is to help people prevent illness and disease at almost no cost, improve lives for people with and without access to medical care, empower people to heal themselves by using the body’s wisdom and ignite a transformation in healthcare treatment through the concept of self-care. The ear is a small, yet important, part of our body in promoting health. It’s not merely an organ for hearing, but also a sophisticated structure which can be used to treat diseases. Healing through ear manipulation has been employed for approximately 2,500 years. It is recorded in the Huang Di Nei Jing, or The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, an ancient Chinese medical text that has been regarded as the fundamental doctrinal source for Traditional Chinese Medicine. How miraculous that the body can really tell us all the conditions about, what of the body is going on, dealing with, and allows us to treat as well by manipulating the acupressure points in the ear, whether we do it with needles, or using just simply a finger. All the different ways to manipulate the ear, by giving massage, or heat, or all kinds of ways to get the body to change the energy in the body.
