I have a health tip for you. Did you know that you may be able to relieve heartburn and reduce the risk of acid reflux by sleeping in a different position? Sleeping on your side, particularly your left side, may help with this, because of gravity acting through the position of the digestive organs. Furthermore, there is a theory that suggests the stomach and gastric juices will be sitting lower than the esophagus when you are laying on your left side, thereby lowering the risk of acid reflux. It’s also a good idea to slightly prop yourself up using an extra pillow, as this will ensure the stomach is also in a lower position. The best recommendation is to take smaller portions for dinner and eat earlier in the evening, around three or more hours before bed. This helps ensure the stomach has had some chance to empty before lying flat.
