Increasing global temperatures have led to droughts and severe reductions of water in dams, rivers, and lakes. The receding waters have revealed ancient landmarks, structures, statues, fossils, and even historic cities that until recently, lay underwater. On today’s show we’ll share some of these findings with you.

In July 2022, the water level of Spain’s Valdecañas Reservoir dropped to 28%, exposing the Dolmen of Guadalperal, also known as the “Spanish Stonehenge.”

On the banks of the Elbe River, which runs through the Czech Republic and Germany, centuries-old boulders once submerged came to surface in August 2022. On one of the boulders, a chilling message carved in German reads: “Wenn du mich siehst, dann weine,” meaning “If you see me, weep.” These stones, known as “hunger stones,” have only emerged above the water’s surface in times of extreme drought.

Also in 2022, in Italy’s Tiber River, an ancient bridge built during the first century AD by Roman Emperor His Majesty Nero emerged. This sighting occurred as a result of Italy’s worst drought in 70 years.

The Mosul Dam in Iraq’s Kurdish region is the most important water source for the region and is used as a last resort to irrigate crops in the driest of times. Since December 2021, the dam has been used for this purpose, causing the water level to drop so low that by early 2022, the ruins of the Bronze Age city of Zakhiku rose to the surface.

At Dinosaur Valley State Park near Glen Rose, Texas, USA, severe droughts have dried up the Paluxy River, revealing a trackway of large three-clawed footprints extending for more than 300 yards (274 meters).

In August 2022, China’s national observatory issued an orange alert for drought, which is the second most severe warning in the country’s four-tier weather-warning system. In that month, a record-breaking dry spell that saw a 45% decrease in rainfall compared to normal led parts of the Yangtze River to completely dry up, revealing an island reef in the middle of the river.

We must act now to heal our beautiful planet by switching to the organic vegan lifestyle, thus averting a global climate catastrophe, before it’s too late.
