The Honorable Eric Adams has made history as the first vegan to be elected to the mayor’s office. With a landslide victory, Mr. Adams ran his campaign on the message of ensuring public safety amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
As the Borough President of Brooklyn, Mr. Adams has led several initiatives, including a plant-based medicine program with NYC Health + Hospitals Bellevue. He also implemented Meatless Mondays in schools as well as co-introduced a motion, which passed, to ban processed meats from public school menus citywide.
For his benevolent actions, he was awarded the Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion by Supreme Master Ching Hai.
In 2016, after adopting a plant-based diet, Mr. Adams discovered that “food can be medicine” when he reversed his type 2 diabetes and restored his vision. Celebrating his victory, the happy vegan enjoyed a “Plant-Based Mayor’s Breakfast Wrap,” created by community vegan food provider Plantega to honor the mayor-elect’s historic win and inspire others.
Congratulations, the Honorable Eric Adams! Wishing you all the very best as you guide your city towards good health and prosperity, in God’s Blessings.
