Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Chella Philips of The Voiceless Dogs of Nassau and Guardians of Rescue – Loving and Courageous Deeds for Animal-Friends

Founded by Mr. Robert Misseri, a heroic vegan and animal welfare activist, the New York-based Guardians of Rescue represents a group of compassionate men and women who brave the tough, and often dangerous lifesaving missions in the US and across the world. They are able to go to locations where law enforcement does not have access: war zones, disaster scenes, and other such places where animal-persons cry beyond the sight of humans. A veteran volunteer, for example, has risked his life embarking on more than twenty missions to bring back dozens of canine and feline companions entrusted to the rescuer(s) by the soldiers at the Middle East military bases, setting a true example of “People helping animals and animals helping people.” “We take on some of the most complicated cases. We know an animal suffers; we go on, we get it, we do it, we fix it. Our motto is: We don’t stop until we stop the suffering.” In 2019, as the devastating Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas, Guardians of Rescue worked with local non-profit, The Voiceless Dogs of Nassau, to save the lives of canine-people, under life-threatening conditions. As Dorian struck, Ms. Phillips opened her house to protect 97 abandoned canine friends. But soon her house began to flood, and the Guardians came to the rescue and managed to charter a plane and airlifted, through the category 5 storm, the canine friends from Ms. Phillips’ home to safe shelters across the US. Our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Tearfully present Chella Phillips of the Voiceless Dogs of Nassau and Guardians of Rescue, each with a Shining World Compassion Award” plus a humble contribution of US$10,000, “with heartfelt gratitude and best wishes, in God’s love.” “Dear Mr. Misseri, It is with great admiration and gratitude that we present to Guardians of Rescue the 'Shining World Compassion Award' for being an 'animal-people rights and welfare organization whose members work to protect the wellbeing of all animal-people and their caregivers, and come to the aid of those in distress.'”

The Shining World Award Recipients: Compassion and Love Brighten Our World, Part 1 of 2

Let’s first journey to the United Kingdom to learn more about the first awardees, a group of kind-hearted children who enthusiastically put their love of singing to good use for nature conservation. Sim Macaulay, his mother Dorry, and their like-minded friends formed a community choir of children whose music centers on protecting the environment. Deeply touched by their wonderful song, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Lovingly present the Shining World Hero Award to SOS From the Kids, and US$10,000 in humble support of your noble and sincere efforts, with all love, heartfelt gratitude, best wishes, and high praises. May Heavens forever watch over and protect you, in Divine benevolence.” Later, Master also offered another humble financial contribution of US$7,000 to support another project of the choir, a music video titled: “It’s Time to Heal.” And again later Master sent another US$10,000 “as a loving token of love, for the kids favorite vegan snacks while working on the songs.”The next Shining World Award was granted to an organization in New York City, United States, which is committed to rescuing cat-people. Amongst the most successful of these local non-profit organizations is Flatbush Cats. Their approach of using social media to post photographs and issue calls for support in the Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn has not only yielded donations to cover veterinary costs but also secured foster and permanent homes for many feline friends. On hearing of this noble work, our most Cherished Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Warmly present the Shining World Compassion Award to Flatbush Cats, plus a US$10,000 loving contribution for your benevolent and caring efforts for vulnerable cat-people, with lots of love, gratitude and heartfelt best wishes, in God’s immense blessing.”Our journey to Europe introduces us to Dimitar Dimitrov, a 50-year-young car mechanic who lives in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria. The clever mechanic allocates his spare time to make mobility aids for cat and dog-people. Upon learning of his exceptional love for the four-legged friends, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present Dimitar Dimitrov the Shining World Compassion Award and a US$10,000 contribution for this caring endeavor, with lots of love and gratitude.”Our Benevolent Supreme Master Ching Hai Lovingly awarded 21 Shining World Awards between September 2021 and January 2022, and Humbly contributed a total of US$180,000. Through Her loving and compassionate support, these awardees have been encouraged to keep going on their caring journeys of helping individuals and animal-people in need.

The Shining World Award Recipients: Compassion Towards People and Animal-People in Need, Part 2 of 2

In 2001, Ms. Abaza, the World Animal Day Egyptian ambassador, founded the Society for the Protection of Animal Rights in Egypt (SPARE), the first registered non-profit organization promoting animal-people welfare in her country. Together with Amina, a charitable organization from the United Kingdom, Naturewatch Foundation was also acknowledged by Supreme Master Ching Hai. The foundation was founded in 1993, and has run animal-people welfare campaigns within the UK since then. Once apprised of their love and care for the people of the animal kingdom, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai responded and: “Gratefully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Naturewatch Foundation and Amina Abaza of the Society for the Protection of Animal Rights in Egypt (SPARE) respectively, with a humble gift of US$10,000 to each in support of their noble mission to safeguard animal-individuals and better their welfare. May Heaven continue to bless you both and your benevolent work.”The Reverend is the founder and chairman of the Catholic Messengers of Green Consciousness and the Hong Kong Catholic Vegetarian Association and is a compassionate vegan who believes that a peaceful plant-based diet can help conserve the planet's ecosystems and environment. Upon learning of his benevolent work, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Reverently offer Father Anthony Chang Sang Loy and His organizations, the Catholic Messengers of Green Consciousness and the Hong Kong Catholic Vegetarian Association, the Shining World Protection Award with a humble contribution of US$10,000 toward His noble mission with praises and best wishes, in God’s Love.”Sebbie Hall, an 18-year-old with special needs from Lichfield, Staffordshire, United Kingdom, has successfully completed over 1,600 random acts of kindness, beginning with gifting his own laptop to a friend in early 2020. When hearing about his wonderful kind deeds, our Benevolent Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Sebbie Hall, plus US$10,000 to lovingly support your caring endeavors, with many thanks, admiration, and praises. May God Bless you manyfold.”

Shining World Award for Earth Protection Recipient: Dr. Sailesh Rao (vegan) – Humble Endeavors to Protect Our Loving Earth

In 2007, Dr. Rao, a shining beacon of courage and compassion, stepped away from his prominent career in electrical engineering at the prestigious Stanford University, to found Climate Healers, a non-profit organization tasked with healing the Earth’s climate crisis. “Then, in 2005, I happened to see Vice President Al Gore's presentation on TV. I started working on it from a systems perspective. The best and fastest way to solve the global warming crisis is for humanity to go vegan. There is nothing that comes close to what that can achieve. Because it will reduce emissions by about 30% directly, and then it will release 37% of the land area of the planet to be reforested. And on that land, the trees and the forests will sequester another 57% of the greenhouse gas emissions on an annual basis. So together, we get 87% at least, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, if the world goes vegan.” “Yes, I absolutely have total faith in humanity that we are going to transition to a vegan world before 2026. Because that's what the science is telling us that we need to do. And if we don't do it, we are on track to wipe out almost all wild animals on this planet by 2026.” In appreciation of his invaluable work, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Shining World Award for Earth Protection to Dr. Sailesh Rao with all praises, love and gratitude, in God's Grace.” “Along with the IPCC’s 2019 ‘Climate Change and Land’ report with United Nations climate change experts calling for urgent reduction of meat consumption to save our planet, the overwhelming evidence leaves no doubt of the root cause of our Climate Emergency. As the public becomes more aware from respected reports such as yours, governments will have the mandate to enact vegan law. For exemplary guidance and exceptionally wise research, for the courage and technical scientific brilliance to reveal the truth, and for bringing light and hope to the people, we hereby applaud and celebrate the vitally important Earth-protecting deeds of Dr. Sailesh Rao.”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Ferenc Matics – A Devoted Bird-Person Lover

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Ferenc Matics – A Devoted Bird-Person Lover

The melodic chirps of the bird-people often create a harmonious balance of mind and connect us more closely to Mother Nature. Today’s Shining World Award program features a devoted bird-person lover from Hungary who has spent more than a decade creating a nurturing environment for swallow-people. He uses environmentally friendly materials to build well-camouflaged nests for swallow-people. His initial efforts began with the construction of 10 nests and continued with many more over the years. Today he has a total of 430 nests under the eaves of his house. The earthy color of the tiny bird-people’s homes has attracted many swallow-persons to breed during the mating season. “They are in a terribly difficult situation building nests because even in the smallest village everything is paved. They can't find the right quality of mud. It's full of fine gravel and sand; They can't glue it together. Then there is no chance of nesting in time. And from the end of June, the salivary gland in their throat dries up and they can't glue the nest or the mud together. In the first place, that pair can't breed, unless they find such a place.” “So there are many, many bird lovers now. And they help them. My message to the people who love nature or want to help birds is to try to save them in any way they can, whether it's by building nests, feeding them, and the best way is to provide nesting sites.” Upon hearing about his compassionate deeds, our most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gladly present Ferenc Matics the Shining World Compassion Award plus US$10,000 to humbly contribute to this lifesaving effort. In Heaven's Mercy with big hugs, love, and thanks. May you and the elegant bird-people be in God’s Blessing always.”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary

The founders of Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, Aimee Takaha and her husband Andy, reside in Queen Creek, Arizona, and have established a loving residence for rescued animal-persons for more than 11 years. Aimee’s personal journey as a survivor of child abuse from a very young age and its ensuing post-traumatic stress disorder, were the catalyst for the sanctuary’s creation. Aimee always noticed that her PTSD symptoms would ease and release its grip on her life when she turned her attention to receiving the powerful loving energy that animal-people so unconditionally emanate at all times. Aimee stated that the animal-people have indeed saved her life and adds: “That’s how I recognized the healing. They adore being hugged and cuddled, and seek out the guests for their hugs too!” Along her healing journey, Aimee came to know of distressed animal-people who also had suffered painful ordeals, and decided to return the blessings received by caring for animal-persons who faced their own traumas. “It hurts my heart to see them come to me with such fear in their eyes and broken bones. But we have a wonderful team of volunteers here and we help these animals trust again, they get a sparkle back in their eyes. And that's everything. When they overcome that.” Upon hearing about this amazing love, and the dedicated work of Aimee, Andy and all the volunteers at Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, and a humble contribution of US$10,000 in loving support of your noble work, with much love and heartfelt gratitude, as well as special thanks to all who have contributed to your effort to save precious animal-people lives. May you, those you care for and all involved, be uplifted and shielded in God’s boundless Grace.”

The Shining World Award Recipients: Exceptional Love, Caring and Nurturing in Actions, Part 2 of 2

The first awardee today is a sanctuary from the United States, which brought 1,000 hen-people to safety. With the help of two chartered planes sponsored by a generous donor, Animal Place, a non-profit organization dedicated to sheltering rescued farm animal-people friends, has flown 1,000 chicken-people from an egg farm in Iowa State to its 600-acre safe haven in northern California. Upon hearing about this amazing work, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present Animal Place the Shining World Compassion Award and a US$10,000 humble contribution to support your benevolent efforts, with lots of love, gratitude, and praises for all you do to save precious lives.”Now we travel to India to meet the next awardee, Mr. Gaurav Jain. After serving as a volunteer with the animal-people rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) in India for about 10 years, Mr. Jain realized that bird-people needed greater protection. So he started a non-profit organization called Sansthanam Abhay Daanam Charitable Bird Hospital, with a mission to provide medication, food, shelter, and care to injured or ill bird-individuals and other animal friends, especially those without caregivers. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Happily present Mr. Gaurav Jain the Shining World Compassion Award, plus a US$20,000 humble contribution to the Sansthanam Abhay Daanam Charitable Bird Hospital, in God’s Love.”The last Award in today’s show honors Mr. James Bean from Maine, United States. He launched Spiritual Awakening Radio in September 1988, out of his pure love of the great Masters and Their teachings. The focus of Mr. Bean’s programs is to share, through radio and other media, a deeper understanding of spirituality for a more peaceful planet. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present Mr. James Bean the Shining World Compassion Award, plus a US$15,000 humble contribution to Spiritual Awakening Radio, in God’s Love. May Heaven watch over you and yours forevermore, and may those who have the fortune to listen be soon spiritually awakened, in the benign mercy of the Master whom you worship.”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Larry Chusid of The Pongo Fund - Helping the Vulnerable and Their Animal-people Families

The award-winning non-profit organization, The Pongo Fund, was first implemented when founder Larry Chusid offered his help to a group of people living underneath a bridge, in Oregon, USA. Learning that their two dog-people companions were lacking nutritious food and necessities, Mr. Chusid brought them food, treats, coats, and beds. Tragically, every day, due to extreme hardship, many beloved dog-people companions are given up by their caregivers and left at overcrowded shelters or pounds, where they risk euthanasia. In 2009, Mr. Chusid decided to dedicate his life to helping others in need after his beloved dog-person friend, Pongo, passed away. The Pongo Fund was created as a place of love to save these unfortunate animal-people friends. The mission is to “provide quality food and vital veterinary care for the family pets of anyone in honest need, keeping them safe, healthy, and out of the shelters.” Since its establishment, The Pongo Fund has provided more than 25 million life-saving meals for nearly 200,000 hungry animal-people in Oregon, Washington, and beyond. By sustaining the animal-people that help to sustain the poor and wounded, The Pongo Fund is helping to keep families together during the toughest of times. Upon learning of the Pongo Fund’s unconditional caring services on behalf of beloved animal-people companions and their human caregivers, Supreme Master Ching Hai initially awarded US$15,000 to the organization, and later happily offered “an extra US$20,000, plus the Shining World Compassion Award to Larry Chusid’s Pongo Fund, with all love and gratitude from the heart in God’s Mercy.” “Dear Larry, It is with great admiration and gratitude that we present to you and the Pongo Fund the 'Shining World Compassion Award' for caring for animal-people within the community. This Award is presented in recognition of the Fund’s unique and exceptionally benevolent way of assisting human caregivers to provide loving care for their precious animal-people companions. May you and all helping heroes, as well as your animal-people friends, be blessed abundantly by Heavens. With Great Honor, Love and Blessings in God's Grace Supreme Master Ching Hai.”

Shining World Compassion Award: Ms. Patti Ragan (vegetarian) of Center for Great Apes – Loving Haven for Primate-People

Shining World Compassion Award: Ms. Patti Ragan (vegetarian) of Center for Great Apes – Loving Haven for Primate-People

The term “great apes” refers to four different classes of primate-people: gorillas, bonobos, orangutans, and chimpanzees. But when these babies and juveniles are tragically and heartlessly separated from their mothers for use in research facilities, the entertainment industry, or to be sold as exotic pets, they are trained in unnatural behaviors that preclude them from ever returning to the wild. “I just knew about in Borneo where I had volunteered to work and in the zoo world. And I was shocked when I realized that some of these apes were going on to entertainment and services and private owners.” The Center for Great Apes was set up as a nonprofit organization in 1993, but it wasn’t until 1997 that Ms. Ragan was able to find a suitable rural location for the primate-people. Over the next 20 years, the sanctuary expanded to almost 50 hectares and is now a forever home to 53 ape-people. Taking care of the animal-people’s health is a top priority at the Center for Great Apes. The chimpanzee-and orangutan-people are fed several times a day with fresh fruits, vegetables, and special high-fiber biscuits. “Veterinarians in the zoo community have been setting great ape heart health for gorillas for maybe 15 years. We train them for health, health checks.” Upon learning about this caring work, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Ms. Patti Ragan, with a token gift of US$15,000 to support the Center for Great Apes.” And here is the Award letter from our Supreme Master to Ms. Ragan. “This Award is presented in recognition of your benevolent heart. Touched by their serenity and need for assistance, you created an ideal haven for great ape-people to enjoy the remainder of their lives in a loving environment. The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries said ‘The Center for Great Apes is a shining example of all that a sanctuary should be.’” “I would like to say to the Supreme Master that I'm very impressed that an organization would do research and find places like ours to help support, and I’ve been on the website, and it’s wonderful that it’s about love and life and really protecting each other and protecting animals and thank You.”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Woodstock Farm Sanctuary

The sanctuary was founded seventeen years ago by Jenny Brown and Doug Abel. Its purpose is to rescue farm animal-people that are abused, neglected, and cruelly treated, and provide them with the care and comfort they need to live out their natural lives in peace. Woodstock Farm Sanctuary began on a much smaller property that was mostly unfenced at the time. The number of animal residents has steadily increased over the years, and after moving to its current location, its infrastructure has been improved, with large barns being built to provide indoor facilities to the animal residents. Cow-people sheds, chicken-people coops, an animal-people hospital/treatment room and a visitors’ center have also been added. The sanctuary is now home to almost four hundred rescued farm animal-people of various kinds. “We provide them with daily medical care and anything that they need. We have an incredible caregiving staff here that tend to everything that you can think of that the animals might need, for the rest of their lives.” Many different kinds of rescued animal-individuals now reside at the sanctuary. These include some more familiar ones such as chicken, pig, cow and goat-people, and also some that are seen less often, such as turkey and llama-people. “We have our Facebook and Instagram accounts where we tell animal stories all the time. We always post about new rescues and the stories of animals that have been here for many years, special needs care. So there's a lot of videos on our social media platforms that reach hundreds of thousands of people that talk about our work.” Upon hearing about the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai “Gratefully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary with a loving contribution of US$15,000. We salute the great compassionate deeds of the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. May Heaven always bless you both and all involved, abundantly.”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission – Tiny Homes and Big Hope for the Homeless

Mr. Ken Craft is the founder and CEO of Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, an exemplary caring housing and homeless service agency with 220 staff and 17 locations across Los Angeles, California, in the United States. Opened in 2009, this noble organization’s mission is to prevent poverty, hunger, and homelessness by extending dignified housing and life transforming services to the less fortunate. Responding to the deepening homeless crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic, Hope of the Valley collaborated with the city government in launching “Tiny Home, Big Hope” initiatives, which provide tiny homes and key services to some of the most vulnerable people in Greater Los Angeles. “It provides a place for people to start over. It's safe, we have four security guards on site at all times. And then we also have a place where people can store their belongings and a place for those that might have pets. You'll notice the bright colors, and that's intentional. We want this to be a place of life and good energy. If you look inside of here, you'll notice that there are two beds, there's air conditioning, there's heating, there's shelving, there's two electrical outlets so people can charge their cell phone and other electronics. And most importantly, there is a front door that locks. And this is so important, especially for so many women who have been traumatized and sexually abused living on the streets. This is what's known as interim housing. And the next step from here is to then move people into permanent housing.” Upon hearing about Hope of the Valley’s caring work, Our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Shining World Compassion Award to the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, plus a humble US$10,000 to further your caring endeavors, with special thanks to the Los Angeles city government for your loving support.” “In recognition of exemplary kindness, providing housing services to the vulnerable, courageously advocating for dignified living while nurturing hope, building shelters and a caring home, enriching spirits and saving lives through unconditional love. With compliments and gratitude for your wise, compassionate and benevolent commitment to uplift citizens.”

Shining World Invention Award Recipient: Eyal Golan (vegan) of Coral Manta – Saving Lives through Innovation

Shining World Invention Award Recipient: Eyal Golan (vegan) of Coral Manta – Saving Lives through Innovation

According to global reports, drowning is among the top three leading causes of unintentional death among children worldwide, with 86% of incidents occurring in residential pools. Searching for an effective advanced drowning detection system, but to no avail, in 2014, Israel’s Mr. Eyal Golan, a software engineer and concerned dad, along with his partner Dr. Tamar Avraham, decided to dedicate their time and effort to developing a product themselves. Thus, their computer vision-based drowning detection system for residential swimming pools, now known as Coral Manta, was born. Named partly in honor of two young girls in Israel, Cora and Or, who sadly drowned in the backyard pool at their grandmother’s house, the Coral Manta Detection Systems were created with the sole mission to save lives. “We all want to believe that we can watch kids for three, four or five straight hours without taking our eyes for a second or a few seconds from them. But that's not true. No one can do that. And what Coral Manta does is that it's like a lifeguard eye under the water. It never gets distracted.” “The system has two types of alerts. The first alert is when someone gets into the water for the first time. This is when you get like a short, yet loud alert, just to know that someone is in the water right now, because the child might go into the pool and you're not even aware of it. But the main thing is that it's constantly monitoring, tracking everybody in the pool, and the moment it senses that or sees that someone is not moving for 15 seconds, or more, or about 15 seconds, it will set off the alarm. Now the alarm is much louder, and it won’t stop. It will go until the system detects the object, or the person was removed from the water.” Upon hearing about his amazing work, our Benevolent Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Cheerfully present Mr. Eyal Golan the Shining World Invention Award, plus a loving contribution of US$15,000 for this life-saving project, with love, cheers and gratitude.”

The Shining World Award Recipients: Exceptional Love, Caring and Nurturing in Actions, Part 1 of 2

Let’s first go to South Africa to meet a one-of-a-kind brigade of four-legged police officers who are especially trained to protect the country’s precious wildlife. The Southern African Wildlife College trains brave canine- heroes to protect wildlife from poachers. Since the addition of these special canine patrols, the Southern African Wildlife College has effectively seen its success rate at preserving wildlife increase by 65%. After learning about their amazing work, our Cherished Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gladly presents the Shining World Hero Award to the Southern African Wildlife College canine patrol, plus a loving gift of US$10,000 for vegan treats for the courageous dog-people, with lots of love, praises and high fives.”Let’s journey next to the United States of America to meet a kind-hearted teenager who selflessly set out to help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. From the age of six, 14-year-old Liêm Kaplan, from Seattle, Washington, has been passionately helping others, especially those without a roof over their head. Upon hearing about his good deeds, our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Praisingly present the Shining World Compassion Award to Liêm Kaplan, with lots of love and gratitude, as well as US$10,000 to put toward your noble cause.”The last awardee today is WEMA HOME, a charitable organization with offices in Benin, Germany, that built a training center for less fortunate youngsters. The goals of the organization are to help children and adolescents access education and employment, improve the working and living conditions of girls and women, curb rural flight, and prevent child trafficking, as well as promoting environmental protection and nature conservation. Our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Happily presents the Shining World Compassion Award in God's Love to the WEMA HOME organization, plus US$25,000 as a loving token of support toward this noble work.”From June to August 2021, Master presented 14 Shining World Awards, with a US$ 175,000 in total contributions. Thanks to Her compassionate care and support, these awardees have been encouraged to continue on their loving paths, helping people and animal-individuals in need.

Shining World Compassion and Courage Award Recipient: Animal Rebellion – Compelling Governments with Peaceful Civil Disobedience

Animal Rebellion is a mass movement with a vision to bring the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and cruelty against animal-people to an end, using peaceful civil disobedience initiatives. Their aim is to compel governments to implement policies that help the public adopt the lifesaving plant-based lifestyle, in an effort to save the planet from imminent destruction. In October 2019, tens of thousands of environmental and animal-people protection activists of Animal Rebellion and its sister movement Extinction Rebellion, gathered in London for two weeks of peaceful demonstrations, sit-ins, and parades. Their slogans aim to bring attention to the climate emergency, requesting that governments simply “tell the truth” and “act now” on reducing emissions to net-zero by 2025, with a solution being to create a “citizen assembly” to discuss and bring light to these important issues. Their peaceful, creative and vocal stance has generated much media coverage and inspired many worldwide. “So, the only way we can address the climate emergency is by first addressing the animal emergency, and the strategy that we’ll be using will be non-violent direct-action civil disobedience because historically, this has been a way that’s just shown how to make systematic changes in the fastest time period.” “We are bringing attention to the fact that animal agriculture contributes roughly a quarter of all global greenhouse gases and is the leading cause of deforestation in the Amazon. And we cannot have the climate crisis and climate breakdown discussion without mentioning animal agriculture.” “We are killing more animals than ever before.” “This is a human rights issue, as well as [an] animal rights and an ecological issue.” Upon learning about this peaceful movement, Supreme Master Ching Hai presented Animal Rebellion with the Shining World Compassion and Courage Award, as well as a humble financial contribution of US$50,000 “with the deepest love, solidarity, and well-wishing. May all your members continue your all-important work of bringing justice, peace, and climate stability to the world with unabated success, in all Heaven’s glory.”

We are delighted to present two Award-winning American filmmakers. One is acclaimed musician Keegan Kuhn, founder of First Spark Media, followed by Kip Andersen, founder of Animals United Media (A.U.M) Films and Media. Both film production companies focus on social justice causes and promoting awareness and equality for all life. After years of tireless work, their two major films, “Cowspiracy – The Sustainability Secret” in 2014, and “What the Health” in 2017, were released. With considerable depth, painstaking investigative data, and thought-provoking narrative, the films illustrate through evidence-based revelations, how adopting the vegan lifestyle is indeed the key to resolving some of the world’s biggest issues. The two films have been viewed by hundreds of millions of people around the world and are available in 25 different languages. Thanks to these films, hundreds of thousands of people signed up for the 30-day vegan challenge, and many have opened themselves up to new ideas. Keegan and Kip’s amazing talents, combined with a selfless dedication to vital truths, have merited the films’ huge success. “My films tend to be investigative documentaries, really digging deeper than you would get in mainstream media. That definitely comes with backlash. My co-director and I have gotten lots of death threats because of talking about this industry. We’ve been harassed and tried to be silenced. But the truth is that any sort of negative impact we could potentially get for ourselves personally, is nothing compared to the negative impact we’re seeing if this industry goes unchecked.” Touched by their selfless dedication to awakening the public on crucial issues, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present Keegan Kuhn and Kip Andersen the Shining World Compassion Award each, with a humble supportive token of $20,000 USD each, toward their humane project in God’s Love. May the Heavens love and shield you every day.”

Shining World Heroine Award Recipients: Jules Casey and PT Hirschfield (vegan)– The Passionate Marine Videographers and Photographers

Shining World Heroine Award Recipients: Jules Casey and PT Hirschfield (vegan)– The Passionate Marine Videographers and Photographers

On today’s Shining World Award program, we will walk you through the life-saving journeys of two avid divers who have spent a considerable amount of time filming underwater and sharing their deep connection with the ocean, via social media. Jules Casey and PT Hirschfield have both rescued many sea animal-people while scuba diving. One of their rescues in early 2021, involved saving a distressed Port Jackson shark-person tethered to the seabed by a hook from a tangled fishing line. “I've really found that being in the ocean had a profound impact on my health. I was a cancer patient, who had cancer three times 2010, 2013, and 2014. And even when I was recovering from surgeries, I found that the idea of getting back into the ocean was really a great motivating force in my life.” “We've rescued many different kinds of animals that were entrapped in the same way, with fishing hooks in their mouths with fishing line no longer attached to rods being held by people on the pier, just tethered to the seafloor and dying slow deaths. So, this is actually quite a common occurrence with this little Port Jackson shark and also with the Fiddler race, also known as Banjo sharks. So, this is actually something that unfortunately we do on a fairly regular basis.” As a child, PT Hirschfield found it disturbing to consume meat and decided that she wanted to be a vegetarian. She later faced the reality of the inhumane practices of the dairy & poultry industry and became vegan. “I cannot understand how anybody could eat an octopus once they have actually interacted with one. Once you meet an octopus, it changes everything for you. You hold out your hand and this little arm comes out and touches you, it really touches your heart.” Upon hearing about their touching act of kindness, our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Tearfully present the Shining World Heroine Award to Jules Casey and PT Hirschfield for your compassionate rescue of the small, helpless shark-people, with heartfelt gratitude and love. May Heaven reward and bless you manyfold.”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: The Riley Farm Rescue – A Safe Haven for Animal-People

Today’s Shining World Award program features Marla Riley, the president and founder of The Riley Farm Rescue, located in Connecticut, United States. Marla and her team of caring volunteers work tirelessly to rescue our benevolent farm animal-people friends from slaughterhouses. In 2017, Ms. Riley moved away from adopting and caring for animal-persons in her backyard and expanded to a 10.5-hectare farm. Since then, she has rescued hundreds of animal-people from livestock auctions, along with those involved in other situations of neglect and abuse. “The Riley Farm Rescue saves and rehabilitates animals. We have over 220 animals under our care right now. This is their forever home. So, they do stay with us for the remainder of their lives, where we can provide them the love and care that they deserve. If you would like to follow our mission, we are on social media, the Riley Farm Rescue. We’re a non-profit. So, everything is, funded by donations 100%.”In March 2021, Marla and volunteers from the Riley Farm Rescue saved 18 lamb-persons, including 10 babies, from being auctioned. They were nursed back to health by volunteers, and then some were moved to other animal-people sanctuaries around the country to lead a safe, peaceful and fulfilling life. Upon hearing the news, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to The Riley Farm Rescue plus a US$10,000 humble contribution to assist your life-saving work, with love and gratitude. May you and the sweet animal-people be blessed and protected by God’s Grace.”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Pia Offord and the Worthing Vegan Food Bank Network – Caring for Community in Time of Need with Love for All Beings

Pia Offord, a community-minded vegan activist from West Sussex, United Kingdom, helps people in times of need and supports vegan and nonvegan neighbors by providing them with nutritious, plant-based food. In order to help residents of her town access food during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to assist the growing veg community, Ms. Offord founded the charitable organization Worthing Vegan Food Bank Network to distribute vegan groceries, vegan emergency food parcels and personal hygiene items on a weekly basis. Through this noble initiative, which began in March 2020, Worthing Vegan Food Bank has built a supportive network with local vegan-friendly groups and businesses. “This is how it started, with a litter box at a little cafe. I have about 30 families, so about 80 to 100 people that we help on a weekly basis, but we're still doing exactly what we did a year ago. We might have started out of a pandemic, that sadly comes from eating animal. We want to turn this around, and we want to make sure that people understand veganism is the way forward. Veganism is something where we can feed the world.” “What makes us definitely different is, as you can see, we do have a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. We focus on at least 50 to 60 percent fresh fruit and vegetables, which is something that normal food banks just don't provide. We also started doing educational, more sustainable campaigns for families to sustain themselves.” Upon learning of her benevolent deeds, our Cherished Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Pia Offord and the Worthing Vegan Food Bank Network, plus a US$10,000 loving contribution to further this caring endeavor, with all love and gratitude, in Heaven’s Grace.” “For selfless commitment helping the less fortunate, for uplifting the community spirit and providing hope and relief to citizens during troubled times, and for your considerate wisdom, we laud the compassionate deeds of Pia Offord. May God be forever by your side. With Love and Blessings in Heaven's Protection Supreme Master Ching Hai”

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Professor Andrew Knight (vegan) – The Path Forward in Veterinary Nutrition

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Professor Andrew Knight (vegan) – The Path Forward in Veterinary Nutrition

Originally from Australia, Professor Knight settled in the United Kingdom and led a brilliant career as a veterinarian and teacher of veterinary studies, animal welfare, and ethics. A true trailblazer, Professor Knight contributed significantly to transforming the traditional curriculum by campaigning for more humane practices to be implemented in place of invasive and harmful animal-people use. In addition, Professor Knight led educational research initiatives demonstrating how our animal-people companions can fully thrive on a plant-based diet. “Vegan animals seem to have less problems with being overweight. They have increased health and vitality. They have decreased rates of certain tumors now or fatty tumors are very common in animals that are too overweight. They may have less arthritis, they may have less diabetes and visual disorders resulting from diabetes.” “The other reason is that vegan diets are formulated to supply the same set of nutrients that balance meat-based diets are, but without any of the hazardous ingredients that can be found in meat-based diets.” People are often worried about plant-based diets not being natural for cats and dogs, and will they be less happy? “We looked at things like the speed at which they approached the food bowl, the speed at which they ate their food, vocalization, barking, salivating, licking food bowls, guarding behavior of their food, a whole range of signs. We couldn't find any significant difference.”“By producing all this research and these outputs, I hope to be able to show the world really that it's possible to maintain cats and dogs on vegan pet foods and to keep them healthy and also happy. And we're probably going to also prove that there are significant environmental benefits from doing this. And indeed, you can save many more people with the food energy that can be saved. It's estimated at millions of people, extra people could be fed, actually.” After learning about his beneficent work, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Professor Andrew Knight, plus US $10,000 as a token to helping the research, with all love and high salute for your precious work. May you enjoy continued success and constant protection by Heaven.”

The Shining World Award Recipients: Compassion and Love Brighten Our World, Part 2 of 2

The Shining World Award Recipients: Compassion and Love Brighten Our World, Part 2 of 2

Today will bring us to Africa to meet the first awardee: The Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (Chimpanzee Trust). For the past 22 years, the non-profit organization Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, in Lake Victoria, Uganda, has been offering safety, loving care and support to 50 orphaned and rescued chimpanzee-people. Upon learning of this loving haven for primate-people, our most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust, plus US$10,000 in caring support of your life-sustaining efforts for precious chimp-people, with heartfelt gratitude and best wishes. May you, your team and all those you care for be blessed and shielded by God always, in Divine benevolence.” The next Shining World Award honors an altruistic physician who offers free medical care in Yemen during COVID-19 lockdowns. Twenty-nine-year-old Dr. Sami Yahya al-Hajj has a sticker on his car’s rear window that says: “Stop me if you need a medical consultation.” During his commute to and from work, he provides complimentary medical advice right on the streets of Yemen’s capital city, Sanaa. Once apprised of his benevolent work, Supreme Master Ching Hai responded and: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Dr. Sami Yahya al-Hajj, and US$10,000 in humble support of your noble work and caring heart in assisting your vulnerable co-citizens, with high esteem and gratitude. May you and all those you help be always protected in the loving embrace of Allah.” Brady Snakovsky of Ohio, in the United States, was eight years-old when he watched a television program about police dog-people on duty and noticed that these noble canine-people units did not have protective outfits similar to those worn by their human colleagues. The compassionate boy decided to do something to help. He founded a charity called Brady’s K9 Fund and set up a GoFundMe page to support this initiative. The Fund has raised over US$315,000 and enables the purchase of protective vests for the working canine heroes. Touched by his love and care towards the canine heroes, our Cherished Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Happily present the Shining World Compassion Award to Brady Snakovsky, plus a US$10,000 humble contribution for this caring cause, with much love, praises and best wishes. May you and all involved be forever embraced in God’s grace.”
