Medical tape keeps bandages and dressings secure, but the adhesive can sometimes leave a sticky residue on the skin after removal. While harmless, it can feel uncomfortable and collect dirt if left there. Oil-based substances, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or baby oil can help loosen the adhesive. Apply a small amount, gently massage the area, and let it sit briefly before wiping the residue away. Warm soapy water can also help soften the adhesive when rubbed gently with a soft cloth or cotton ball, then rinsed well. If residue remains or if you prefer, commercial adhesive removers designed for medical tape are available over the counter.
