Sahyuri Lalime, a vegan powerlifter, has won the 2021 Belgian Championships competing in the classic division for the 63kg (kilogram) category. Sahyuri lifted an impressive total of 412.5 kilograms: a 180kg deadlift, 152.5kg squat and 80kg bench press en route to winning the best overall female lifter title for the competition.
A vegetarian for almost 20 years and vegan since 2015, Sahyuri said, “I’m extremely proud to be a vegan powerlifter. Every day I am saving lives – and, hopefully, inspiring others to save lives, too - by proving that you don’t need any animal products to be strong ...”
