I asked the monkey(-people), “Why are you so good, so kind? Every time you see me, you just bow your head and say, ‘Wish You well.’ Why is that?” And they told me, “Because You are the Worthy One.” I said, “Who told you that?” They said, “We know.”
Animal-people are very smart. Elephant-folk remember things for years and years. Dog-people can understand your feelings just by looking at you. Dolphin-people often help humans who are in danger at sea. And cows, pigs, and chicken-people have emotions and strong bonds with their human family. Supreme Master Ching Hai makes all animal-people feel safe and loved. They treasure Her kindness and yummy food offerings.
Master: The monkey-people are just exceptional because they just came. (Yes, Master.) I don’t have to take care of them. I just put some fruits and potatoes, sweet potatoes, and corn outside, which they like. (Yes.) And they come to eat whenever they want. (Yes, Master.) I cannot ignore it because I have enough food to eat and they don’t. And they came to my house, not my house, but outside, so I have to treat them.
So I said [to the monkey-people], “You just come and eat whatever I give to you, by God’s gift.” So sometimes, they don’t come. I put it there; they look but they eat a little bit and then they left. And I asked them, “Why is that? Why don’t you eat when it’s all fresh? Why do you leave some here?” They said, “Save it for tomorrow, in case we cannot find it anywhere else, then we’ll come and have some reserve to eat.” “OK, good, good. Next time, I’ll give a lot more so that you don’t have to worry about not having enough food. Just eat more.” And then, they did not. So I said, “Why is that?” They told me, “Oh, Your food given is very precious, so we should eat it sparingly.” (Yes.) The monkey(-people); they understand everything, they know everything.
And the monkey-people, I asked them, “Why is it that you are so kind? Every time you see me, you say ‘well wish.’” (Yes, Master.)
They said, “Woo! Woo!” That means “well wish,” “well wishing.” (Yes, Master.) [They] said, “I wish You well,” in our language. But their language is shorter, they don’t talk a lot. Except on the inside. (Yes, Master.) The vocabulary, physically, is short, but inside, they relate information in perfect English. Their English is better than mine. Considering that they talk so quickly and not have to think write down or anything.
I asked the monkey(-people), “Why are you so good, so kind? Every time you see me, you just bow your head and say, ‘Wish You well.’ Why is that?” And they told me, “Because You are the Worthy One.” I said, “Who told you that?” They said, “We know.”
Wow, these monkey-people are so smart! They see things human eyes cannot see. Supreme Master Ching Hai shared with us Her conversation with the chief of the monkey-people, Do.
Master: A conversation with monkey(-people). “Why didn’t your folks come to enjoy the food that I prepared outside?” And Do… Do is the name of the chief of the monkey(-people) of that group. His name is Do, D-O. (Do. Yes, Master.) I asked only for his name, but the others, I don’t ask.
So I asked them, “OK, why didn’t you folks come to enjoy the food and fruit I prepared for you?” That was on the 16th of March. So, Do said, “Because we sympathy for Your peace disturbed.” They talk like that. “Your peace has been disturbed because You fed us and the zealous ghosts are disturbing You.” The zealous ghosts keep warning me before, that I kicked them out – they’ve been troubling me and warning me, “Don’t feed the monkey(-people); otherwise, Your peace will be disturbed.” (Understand.) I said, “You don’t tell me what to do.” (Understand, Master.) I do what I do. (Yes, Master.) But they do really disturb my peace in the beginning. When I first came, oh, they made all kind of trouble, noise and threatening or frightening and all kind of stuff. Not just the snake. Yeah? (Yes, Master.)
So, I said to the monkey(-person), Do. “It’s OK, no big deal. What did they charge you for? What did they do to you?” And Do said, “For stealing Your food, fruit, vegetables, roots from Your farm, Your garden.” “You didn’t. I permitted you. Told all of you to know this and you can take anything you want.” So I said to the zealous ghosts, “I told all of you to know and leave the monkey(-people) alone. I wanted them to share what I have.” So Do: “They worry we love You. You love us. Then we won’t love Maya.” You know, the devil, (Yes.) the Satan. That’s why we are forbidden to come back.”
I said, “No. I have already announced that whatever I have in my area, you can have them. All the animal(-people) can have them. I don’t need. I don’t need any roots, any fruit, anything. And I also give you the fruit.” And I said it, “God gives it to you. Not even I claim the credit. So, you did not steal anything. You just come back and take whatever is there.” But they said they’re afraid that the zealous demons also trouble me because of that. I said, “Don’t worry. I will send them away. The zealous spirits are so bad.
It is beautiful to see how love flows both ways. Supreme Master Ching Hai cares for the monkey-people; feeds them, and treats them with kindness, and in return they show deep, genuine concern for Her well-being and peace.
Squirrel-people are not just cute —nope! They’re thoughtful little fluffballs. They also bring Supreme Master Ching Hai “messages,” as their own special way of saying thank You for being such a gentle friend to all creatures.
Master: On the 10th of July, “The squirrel(-people) came from all over.” From the mountain where I fed them before (yes), they all came to see me. (Wow! That’s so sweet! That’s nice.) Oh, the whole group. And then I thought they’re hungry. I wanted to feed them something. I gave whatever I had, but they did not eat. They just came and told me something. When they came, they just ran around my place for a while, and chirping and talking and dancing, (oh, wow), and told me about that.
So, the squirrel(-people) all came and dancedaround. And when I talked to them, I said, “Hey, how are you, buddies? Thanks for coming and visiting.” And the squirrel(-people), they lay flat on their stomachs. (Wow!) They didn’t run away from me, they just lay flat and quiet and just gazing at me and listening while I was talking. (Oh my God! So cute!)
I was also surprised. I have never seen this before. Normally wild squirrel(-people), when you go near, they run away. (Yes.) But they just lie flat on the stomach, flat on the tree trunk. Flat, really flat! As flat as possible, as if prostrating. (Wow!) And gazing at me and kept listening until I finished.
They didn’t chirp around anymore. They didn’t talk, they didn’t move. And then I said, “Why are you lying flat on your stomach? Look very strange.” He said, “Pay respect for Master.” That’s what he said. (Wow.) So now, and then he… Who said this? Just one moment. Oh, they also said, “Be You forgiving to unloyal disciple.” They mentioned the name of that person. Yeah, I know that. She revealed something shocking to me also. I even told that person in the face, and that person told me, “Oh, thank you, squirrel(-person)! My God, squirrel(-person), why did you say such a thing?” But it was true.
One time, the squirrel-people heard Her talking so softly from inside the house, asking them to be quiet while She meditated. And guess what happened next? They stopped making noise right away!
Master: I fed some squirrel(-people) and they were so happy, singing so loudly in the morning. I said, “Hey, you can eat, but you cannot sing, OK? I know you. ‘Thank you’ and all that, but you don’t have to do that, because I need to meditate in the morning.” And from then on… Yeah. And one or two times, they forgot, and they cooed, cooed around, because they were calling each other or happily singing, all kinds of things, like a chorus. So, I even said from inside my house, inside my room, I didn’t open the window to tell them. I said, “Hey! Quiet, man! I told you already. Be quiet.” And then they just dropped, quick, immediately, no more noise. They understand everything! They live in the wild; they’re so pure. They’re so pure. Their ability to receive messages is so quick. Truly like that! And they don’t ever coo anymore.
They just come and eat. And they love all kinds of things that I give. I don’t always give the same thing, no. I give sometimes different nuts and different seeds. And I give them corn, cooked, already cooked or fresh, they love it, they chomp on them. I have some photos or some videos. Maybe some day you may see it. They eat the corn and then they turn the corn around to eat the other side. That’s so funny, and sometimes, they see me peeping out to look and they hide. They’re just eating in front of the tree, in front of me, and when they see me peeping out, they turn to the other side, behind the tree and eat my corn. I say, “I can still see you! I still see your movement!” So cute. They understand everything, oh my God! It’s incredible.
Every creature understands love. It’s like sunlight: warm, gentle, and meant to be shared. And if you let that love grow in your heart, it can reach all the way to your table by choosing a plant-based diet that shows real kindness to all animal-people, big or small. That is true compassion.
